Description

Step straight back in time to 1776 on this history-driven happy hour, scoping out Philly landmarks as you experience the city of Brotherly Love as the Founding Fathers intended—by its pubs. Pop into the long-standing watering holes and taverns where the signers of the Declaration of Independence themselves might have once sat down to sip a revolutionary pint.

Meet up with your guide in the Old City and step out into the charming lanes and back alleys of this centuries-old pocket of town. Hear about the origins of the American flag at the Betsy Ross House, stroll down the oldest continuously occupied residential street in the nation at Elfreth's Alley, and see the home where Ben Franklin pondered life and liberty.

Snap photos of Independence Mall and stand at the site of the first presidential estate, where George Washington and John Adams lived when Philadelphia was the capital. Feel the sense of history as you pass Independence Hall, where the Constitution was ratified, and hear about the nation-changing events that took place inside American landmarks like the red-brick Congress Hall and Carpenter's Hall.

If all that history has you feeling thirsty, good news—happy hour's up next. Hop on the underground to head into Center City, where locals are pouring into great downtown bars for a drink. Wet your whistle at 4 different bars, from a lively Irish pub to a classic dive and the oldest bar in the city. Chat about the history of each bar over a drink, and soak it all up with a hearty pub snack or some street food before the tour wraps up.

Sam led us on an epic tour. We stopped at Mallly Malloy’s, McGinnis, and The Foodery. We also walked through the center of city hall to see the amazing views to the north, south, east, and west. Then it was through Wanamaker’s/Macy’s to hear the world’s largest pipe organ play. Wonderful! We had a great time, thanks to Sam! I highly recommend this tour.

I felt like I stole from the tour company, it was such a great deal. The tour lasted nearly 5 hours and they provided 3 beers and 4 appetizers at local bars. I learned so much and had a great time.
