Leaving out Thingvellier National Park , it will drive of almost 45 mins The Strokkur Geysir is the most active geyser in the area, erupting every few minutes & reaching heights of up to 30 metres. What makes Strokkur Geysir unique is its predictability, as it erupts regularly and consistently. One of the unique features of Gullfoss is that it appears to disappear into the earth as it cascades down the two tiers. This illusion is created by the shape of the canyon & the mist that rises from the waterfall. The sound of the water crashing into the canyon is deafening & the mist that rises from the falls creates a beautiful rainbow on sunny days. It is 10 minute drive from Geysir Geothermal Area there are several things to do and see in the surrounding area. For example, visitors can take a hike along the nearby trails that offer stunning views of the waterfall & the surrounding countryside.
