Description

Spend a full day exploring the cultural riches of Ecuador on this tour of Quito city and Mitad del Mundo. In a small group, venture through the UNESCO-listed historic centre of Quito, seeing the sights, and straddle the equator at Mitad del Mundo.

Start your tour by heading to the Basilica Church in Quito's historic centre in a group of no more than 8. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the colonial centre of Quito is home to many well-preserved buildings and plazas. After the La Compañia Church, stop at the Independence Plaza to admire the impressive Government's Palace, and continue on to San Francisco's Church, which dates back to the 17th century. Visit La Ronda Cobble stone through Rocafuerte Street.

In the afternoon, make your way to Mitad del Mundo, the centre of the world. Straddle the equatorial line with one foot in each hemisphere, and visit the Intiñan Museum to participate in experiments that can only be conducted at the equator. Watch water draining in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions on either side of the equator, or try out an ancient sundial. At the end of your day, return to your Quito hotel with new experiences and knowledge.

Diego was a great tour guide and Boliver a great driver. Amazing experience seeing the middle of the world and all the experiments conducted there to prove its the real spot. As for the rest of the tour, there's only so many churches you can see let alone want to see

This was by far one of our favorite tours from our entire trip. Our tour guide, Pablo Sebastian, was punctual, well informed, and friendly! He made sure to take us to the best photo stops and made sure to explain Quito's history in a fun and understanding manner. Visiting the city with Pablo, was like visiting with a friend! He made our experience in Quito one of a kind!
