Uncover your inner archaeologist as you look for fossils and learn about the prehistoric creatures that roamed the hills and grasslands outside of Alberta's capital. Visit Drumheller on this full-day excursion, explore rugged canyonlands, and get-up close looks at monolothic hoodoo rock formations.

From Calgary, ride out to Dinosaur Valley with your guide, listening to tales about the incredible array of species that have been unearthed here. When you arrive, head to the visitor centre to check out fossils and artefacts gathered from more than 40 species of dinosaurs discovered nearby.

Consider expanding your education with stop in the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, and then head to Horseshoe Canyon, where the Red Deer River makes a U-turn in steep, stratified canyons. Further down the river, cross the Star Mine Suspension Bridge and hear about the coal workers who built it in 1931, and then cap off your day with up-close looks at the area's hoodoos—towering rock formations worn into columns over hundreds of years.

Really fun day. The scenes were spectacular, amazing to think the Dinosaurs ruled these areas millions of years ago. I would like to thank our guide for her efforts and enthusiasm. Christopher Rees, Wales, United Kingdom.

We had a little bit of difficulties understanding our guide when trying to explain the history, but he still made a tour enjoyable. Would recommend tour to all age groups. Totally loved the Royal Tyrrell Museum. It was awesome.
