I would have rated them five stars except they didn’t deliver on the viewing of the crocodiles or the water and snacks they advertised. Our guide Antonio was a complete gem, however and he assisted us in viewing a sloth, two kinds of bats, several extremely rare bird species, including the long tailed manekin (priceless!!) along with the classic park favorites including the Scarlet Macaw. I cannot say enough good things about Antonio and his obvious expertise in locating wild birds and other park animals! Totally worth it in spite of the shortcomings. Make sure you pack plenty of water and some snacks for this trip in case they come up short.

Waste of money! Tour was supposed to be 6 hours long, with a snack included. Instead we got the abbreviated version...3 hours, including pickup and drop off times, with no snack, not even a bottle of water on a hot day! Saw very little, a few macaws, a bat and some insects, and a lot of trees. The guide was on his phone frequently with his family discussing his daughter’s school problems, which left us to look around ourselves. Don’t book this tour, you can get in the park for $10 pp and walk around on your own. Very disappointed, false advertising, you don’t get what you pay for.

Overall, the excursion was decent... we’ve visited several other national parks during our time in Costa Rica, and we just didn’t see as much here. Our guide was informative, but there was a lot of talking about plants and insects during the trip. He told us the Macaws were gone when we saw some flying over us as we entered, and we never went to the spot to see the crocodiles. The itinerary said it would be 6 hours, but it was less than 5 hours, including the 40 mins drive there and back.
