Description

Venture to the California Academy of Sciences and explore an aquarium, a 4-storey rain forest, a natural history museum and the world's largest all-digital planetarium – all in one place. Home to cutting-edge research, tons of engaging exhibits and 40,000 live animals, it’s a fun time for all ages.

Join us for Skin: Living Armour, Evolving Identity opening June 14, 2019. Uniquely personal yet universal, skin forms a living interface between organisms and their environment—and is our public face to the world. Our new exhibit invites guests to explore the beauty and sophistication of this organ through rarely seen scientific specimens, fascinating interactives, and thought-provoking investigations of a challenging subject that’s far from black and white.

Exhibits include:

Steinhart Aquarium – 38,000 animals and more than 900 species, including sharks, penguins, and exotic fish.

Kimball Natural History Museum - explores the evolution and maintenance of life on Earth, with 20 million specimens, including the popular 87-foot-long (25 m) blue whale and T-Rex skeleton.

4-Storey Rain Forest - a fully enclosed ecosystem allowing you to do everything from climbing through the lush canopy to exploring underwater tunnels.

Morrison Planetarium - the world's largest all-digital planetarium, with frequent shows using its state-of-the-art projector and technology.

Naturalist Center - the academy’s library and resource centre, and an excellent place to discover more about the displays and to interact with staff members and other visitors.

Great day out for the family. There was so much to see, we could have stayed longer. Our 11 year old really enjoyed all the exhibits,
