The Lake Huron\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">shore<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0is sometimes called Ontario\u2019s West Coast<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, in part of because of the amazing sunsets with soft, puffy, summer clouds in the sky.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0You\u2019ll find outstanding beaches at Grand Bend and The Pinery Provincial Park, where you also can\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">k<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ayak or canoe on a quiet, inland river. Further north is <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sauble<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Beach, Southampton, Kincardine and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Inverhuron<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Provincial Park<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0The north shore of Lake Erie is equally attractive, with fine beaches at Port Stanley and Port Dover, where the owner of The Beach House restaurant plants palm trees on the beach for a Miami\/South Beach vibe. They often have a food truck out by the patio, and the staff (almost entirely women) are super-friendly. Just outside Port Dover is a fun winery called The Frisky Beaver, which makes a blend called Crappy Wine just for the fun of it. (No, it\u2019s not crappy). Closer to Windsor,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Muscedere<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0also makes tremendous red wines. Webster\u2019s and Tew Falls are within a short walk of one another in the Spencer Gorge\/Webster\u2019s Falls Conservation Area. Webster\u2019s is a wide, 22-meter-high cascade, while Tew Falls is a narrow ribbon that drops a full 41 meters.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They\u2019re great anytime but most\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">spectacular in autumn.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Toronto nature<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Even some Torontonians are unaware there\u2019s a national park in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expedia.ca\/Toronto.dx178314\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">city<\/a>. The Rouge National Urban Park lies just east of the Toronto Zoo. You\u2019ll find thick forests, winding rivers lined with high, chalky cliffs and wonderful hiking trails. The park extends all the way to Lake Ontario, where there\u2019s a small beach.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Muskoka magic<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">One of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expedia.ca\/Canada.dx31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Canada\u2019s<\/a> great playgrounds, Muskoka\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">has tons of quiet corners and plenty of places to get out and enjoy nature. Situated just off Highway 169 between Gravenhurst and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bala<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Hardy Lake Provincial Park is one of the top hikes in the region, with nary a cottage to be found. The folks at\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">LivOutside<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in Bracebridge can rent you a canoe, kayak or paddleboard for a ride on the beautiful Muskoka River.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">East of Toronto<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Amazing art<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kawarthas<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Petroglyphs Provincial Park is home to truly unique First Nations\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">limestone rock c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">arvings that date back hundreds of years or more.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">There are hundreds of carvings that feature everything from turtles and human figures to snakes and a spiritual being called a\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">nanabush<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">nanabozho<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, with a\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">human body and rabbit-like ears.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ZimArt<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Rice Lake Gallery is a luscious garden near\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Bailieboro<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0that\u2019s filled with Zimbabwean stone carvings and other\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">artwork<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. But you\u2019ll also find massive, eight-storey-high sand dunes that march along the shore of Lake Ontario at Sandbanks Provincial Park. It\u2019s an amazing sight. There are campgrounds nearby, but you also can visit for the day. Check out\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the pretty beaches near the rock formation known as Sea Lion Rock<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and the old cottages at Silver Islet.
