“We stayed here for four nights after finishing the Shikoku pilgrimage,
The room is small. That's APA — you know that going in, and it's reflected in the price. What you get instead is clean, quiet, and a location that puts you on the train in a few minutes.
Good base for sakura season. Close to Ueno, Nakameguro and Shinjuku out of here
Not luxury. Wanted to sleep well and get moving early”
“Hotel Eco Dogo — Matsuyama, Japan
A practical, no-fuss base in the Dōgo Onsen area. We stayed here on a rest day partway through the Shikoku 88 pilgrimage, and the location did the heavy lifting: a few minutes on foot to Dōgo Onsen, one of Japan's oldest hot springs, and easy access to the station for getting back out to the route.
Best Stay at central location. without paying resort prices”
“We stayed in this hotel, It is the best price you can get in Tokushima City, Right on central, close to Temples of Shikoku 88 it is perfect base before going into long distance of Kochi. Onsan was the best, View from room was breathtaking.”
“We stayed here after a long flight and it was exactly what we needed. Rooms are surprisingly spacious by Tokyo standards, very clean, with a deep bathtub and great amenities. Hanzomon Subway is right outside and Tokyo Station is a 20-min walk. Quiet neighbourhood, helpful English-speaking staff, solid Japanese and Western breakfast. See our full review on the Itinerary Architect YouTube channel!”
“The best accommodation decision we made on the entire Shikoku 88 — 2 nights in a central Kochi City hotel with an onsen included in the price, and surprisingly affordable for a big city. Temples 29-35 all cluster around the city, so you can base yourself here and walk out and back. Steps from Kochi Castle, the fish market, and the Tosa no Okyaku Festival. “Cape Ashizuri is the southernmost point of Shikoku, inside
Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park, and this hotel sits right at it —
minutes from Kongōfuku-ji, Temple 38 on the Shikoku 88 pilgrimage
and the most spectacular temple on the entire route.”
“🏨 WHERE WE STAYED
UWA PARK HOTEL, Uwajima area
A straightforward hotel near the Uwajima route — but heads up, this was the most expensive stay of our entire trip, and we don't think it was worth that price. ( We paid 370 CAD / room )..

We'd genuinely recommend comparing other options in the area before booking this one. however, it includes Onsan and breakfast.

“We stayed here on Day 24 of walking the Shikoku 88 pilgrimage, and it worked well as a base: Temples 54 and 55 are both in the city, and we stumbled onto Shimanami Onsen about five minutes away on foot, after a full day of walking was the best thing happened
if you're a cyclist: Imabari is the Shikoku-side starting point of the Shimanami Kaido, considered the best cycling route in the world.

“We stayed here on night 26 of walking the Shikoku 88 — right across from Iyo-Saijō station, with the mountain bus stop steps away. On the day we climbed to Temple 60 and walked back down, that location was worth more than anything else a hotel could offer.”
“We just had the most peaceful stay here. Waking up to that ocean view from bed was unreal, but watching the sunrise from the hot spring was the absolute highlight. If you need to unplug and just breathe, this is the spot. This hotel is also unique for its ocean-facing view of the Pacific, top-notch breakfast, and a convenient location close to public transportation and a convenience store.
