Mexico City is the most affordable city to watch soccer next June
Toronto is the more budget friendly Canadian host city
Today, Expedia® released its first Fan Travel Outlook, the definitive travel guide for fans looking to attend the major soccer tournament heading to North America next summer, from June 11 – July 19, 2026.
The report is based on Expedia traveler data and reveals global interest in traveling in Canada, the United States and Mexico next summer is up 125%1, with Mexico City officially the most affordable host city and Dallas the most expensive.
Early data shows that Canadian cities are emerging as some of the most sought-after destinations, with Vancouver currently the third most popular host city after New York and Miami.
“Demand is already soaring for next summer’s soccer showdowns and Expedia’s Fan Travel Outlook is the ultimate playbook to maximize travel plans,” said Melanie Fish, head of Expedia Group brands public relations. “Want to follow the action without blowing your budget? Most Affordable Host Cities
Fans looking to stretch their travel dollars will find Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara among the most affordable host cities during the tournament, with Mexico City leading the way in overall value.
- Of the Canadian host cities, Vancouver is attracting the highest search volumes from international fans, yet average hotel rates there are around 40% higher than in Toronto.
- Average daily rates for hotels in Mexico are 50%2 lower than US host cities and 55% cheaper than Canadian host cities.
- Current hotel prices in Arlington, the Dallas suburb where games will be played, range from $100 to $1,400 the night of the first match.
- Toronto ranks 9th for affordability and Vancouver ranks 14th out of the 16 host cities

Preliminary Canadian Group Stages Drive Early Interest from Fans
Team Canada will play its group stage games at home, with fixtures split between Vancouver and Toronto.
- Canadian’s enthusiasm for the tournament and supporting their national team is already showing up in Expedia’s data. Searches by Canadian travellers for Toronto are up 195%10 and for Vancouver up 145%.
- Canadians are also prepared to travel across North America to catch a game, with searches for all 16 host cities combined up 115%.
- Fans from across the world look set to descend on Canada, with local lodging searches for Vancouver up about 80%1, with Toronto seeing even higher demand: worldwide lodging searches for the city have jumped roughly 200%.
Canada’s Host Cities are heating up with Hardcore Fans
- England’s soccer-mad fans are already planning to travel far to see their national team play in North America next summer. Searches by England fans heading to Canada are up 135%, to the US are up 85%5, and to Mexico are up 205%.
- The already qualified Australians are looking to travel in droves, with searches up 130% to Canada and up 100%6 to the US.
- For fans outside North America attending the games, the most popular 1 and likely busiest cities will be New York, Miami and Vancouver.
- Kansas City is predicted to see the smallest influx of fans, yet has the highest increase in searches so far, up 380%1 year-on-year.
