Overall, great trip but felt additional instructions would be helpful. I ran out of toilet paper, and needed more towels but no number to dial for service, and had to go out to find someone. The blue towels in the room, I didn't realize those were the pool/beach towels since we only had 2 white towels. I also didn’t know it’s a carnival cruise drop off and they get some amenities as well, like at the beach. The biggest one was the elevator, my room was on the 3rd floor and I had my 80 yrs old mom with me, Lucky she was able to go up and down the stairs but when I asked for a room change, no luck and basically I need to be sure to add notes like that in any future bookings.

The resort is on the smaller side designed similarly to a shopping center, with everything (restaurants, bars and nightlife) centered around the two pools. The bar staff is very friendly even if you don't tip them which isn't always the case in the DR (which was very nice to see). The Wi-Fi is weak when not in the front desk/lobby area, so plan accordingly if you need to work or need steady service.
The front desk/check-in process was easy, dinner reservations have to be made either on the app or the reservation office around the corner from the front desk. The buffet is limited and very repeated, so we recommend making dinner reservations as much as you can. They were good! When sitting to eat at the buffet, its first come, first, serve and a bit of a free for all as opposed to someone sitting you like at other resorts, so better to plan when it's not the busiest of times.
Guests get up early and put beach towels on chairs around the beach and pool whether they're there or not, so be ready to do the same (super annoying). The towels process is pretty pointless. The maid replaces a towel on a 1:1 basis, but if the towel is on a chair then she won't replace it so you essentially use the same beach towel the entire time you're there.
Shower towels were replaced more often and the room was cleaned on a daily basis. Our maid was VERY nice and we made sure we tipped at the end!

7.6/10 Good! (1,000 reviews)
I recently stayed at the Viva Wyndham all-inclusive hotel and had a mixed but overall decent experience.
Starting with the positives, the room was very clean and well-maintained throughout my stay, which made a great first impression. The air conditioning worked exceptionally well—definitely a big plus, especially in the warmer climate. The staff truly stood out; everyone I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help, which added a lot to the overall experience. The hotel also has two bars that were both enjoyable, offering a good atmosphere and solid drink options.
However, there are several areas that need improvement. The food was probably the biggest disappointment. While there was variety, it lacked authenticity and flavor. Introducing more authentic and diverse food options would significantly enhance the dining experience.
Another issue was the entertainment setup. The entertainment area is not enclosed, and the noise carries late into the night, making it difficult for guests to get proper rest. Enclosing this space or better managing sound levels would make a big difference.
The beach is inconveniently located about a 3–5 minute walk from the hotel, which a little bit farther than expected, and the resort itself seems understaffed. Because of this, not all restaurants are open daily—typically one is closed, while the others are often fully booked, making it frustrating to plan for dinner.
In summary, while the hotel has some strong points—particularly

9.6/10 Exceptional! (10 reviews)
Hi, I cannot say enough excellent things, but I guess if I had to start at the top, I would say I took a taxi from the airport and I showed up at this amazing place and when I stepped out of the car, somebody greeted me by name and I was so confused and he looked at me and he said excuse me do you speak English because I was so stunned. I was like who could possibly know me here…. And that’s how I was treated…. like family. It was amazing! I feel like the listing doesn’t do it justice what this is like is staying at a friend’s mansion! This is not at all a hotel. It’s a friend’s place an amazing friends place.

The room was great! Very clean and spacious. Most people in our group of 9 got sick. Not sure if from food or drinks… if you’re a nonmember, you do not have access to any of the nicer amenities. The resort layout is confusing, not very easy to navigate by walking.

Perfect for first all inclusive resort experience. Definitely primarily focused on families and older guests, but there were some other young people to connect with. Super relaxing, safe and beautiful and wonderful staff. Food is 11/10.
Best to book excursions through the resort for reliability, and the photographer was great too.
