Everything was brand new, lounge, dinning, kitchen and bedroom in mint condition. No utensils or crockery despite having a stove top . The dinning room was really nice and all the food delicious. Every staff member was delightful. One has to measure against the price paid and the third world standard and I would give the hotel a huge tick. ….. especially the dinning. (73 reviews) The room had a smell of damp, mould upon arrival - likely due to the bathroom being in the room with only glass walls separating bed from toilet. The service also could have been better considering the standard a brand new hotel of this calibre should have. We waited over 20 mins for a simple glass of red wine and coca cola on the roof terrace bar, but when we were not served, we got up and left. I did complain to the manager, who swiftly rectified the issue ans brought us up our drinks to our room, but the overall 'mood' and desire to have them on the terrace bar at night was gone, so not as enjoyable. We were fortunate enough to experience a meal in the Indian restaurant on site. Very delicious food and lovely entertainment. The pool was a nice temperature and the stsff working on the poolside were very good at bringing towels and setting up the lounger for you. The poolside bar does not open until 11/11.30, so grab a coffee/drink from elsewhere if you want one by your lounger in the morning. Note, the mall attached to the hotel was not open yet and most shops were vacant but there is a lovely and massive mall nearby (5 min uber). Overall, quite disappointed considering the price we paid to stay here, i usually enjoy cinnamon hotels but unlikely I will stay at this one again. (52 reviews) We are architects and the property is one of the most architecturally significant modern properties in Sri Lanka blending vernacular architecture with modern design. It’s fabulous considering a slightly odd site accessed only via a new bridge. The architecture and furniture and some of the best I’ve seen. The staff are great and friendly. slightly too over attentive at meal times but that’s probably just me! The only shortfall is the integration of the amenities into the overall operation - it needs a designated bar (apparently in the works) as after dinner the only option is to go to your villa room. Not a problem per se but would be nice to socialise a bit after. During the day if you hang out at the property we missed some attentive drinks and snacks being considered for the pool area (lovely pool overlooking the pady fields!) when you felt slightly left to your own devises. If this was a soho house there would be someone around acknowledging your presence and servicing from time to time - you have to go and find the staff who then they snap into action. A bit snoozy if you are trying to have a fun time! - major issue is the lack of variety of drinks - beers and wines only - I could have done with a gin and tonic or two beside the pool - slightly not understanding why management haven’t worked this out (I know licensing is tricky in Sri Lanka) as I would have probably spent 50% more on my extra/ ove bill (over and above the half board) if this had been worked through 4/5!
