While the staff was fabulous, the room itself was difficult. The room made us feel very uncomfortable. Topping it off was the bathroom/shower area. It felt incredibly voyeuristic because the area was in the bedroom and had glass walls with widely spaced louvers through which we could see into the bedroom while using the toilet. The shower and bathroom had awful drainage, with all shower water flowing into the bathroom without any stoppage. The shower/bathroom were also configured so that we had to walk through the actual shower to get to the toilet and sink. It was so strange. Plus, the AC wasn’t very good.

The staff at Villa Maia are exceptional. Always kind and smiling, helpful and attentive. They made a wonderful stay truly exceptional. The room was delightful. We were on the second floor with has a partial view of the city due to the large trees outside the window. A third floor stay would have unobstructed views. The pool and spa are excellent.

Just renovated so they are working out a few kinks but lovely hotel and the views are incredible. Gym was a little sparse - my only complaint.

Great location. Staff was very helpful

Very helpful staff, the place is run by a family, wife at reception, and hotel duties, husband restaurant . Good food, not worth looking about for an alternative. The park with a lake opposite is beautiful and well worth a walk. The town is clean and cared for. I fully recommend the place.

If you arrive late at night, the shuttle doesn't run, my flight was 11pm, so I had their recommended transfer which was 40.00Euros, the accommodation is around 7minutes by car, the ladies who work here are lovely, the older man who worked the late shift doesn't speak any english, so that was frustrating for us both, I decided to pay for the breakfast and it was healthy and plentiful. This is more of a motel, rather than a hotel, where most of the guests had their car parked at the front door of their room.

Roof terrace was a mess - paint peeling, holes in tiles, air con feet smashed with plastic everywhere
