The hotel is beautiful and is a historical place and museum. The grounds are beautiful and there is art and exhibit of archeological artifacts in hallways and all around the several buildings of the place, which is an ancient monastery. The food was very pricey and average, if you ask for extra bread they tell you that it would cost extra. The room was disappointed, it was in the basement and had no windows, except for a small ceiling skylight next to the bathroom. The rugs were old and seemed worn out. We also had a problem when we check in with a guy who was a bit obnoxious and who charged us $450 dollars as insurance in case we would “stain or break anything in the room”. Check-in was not welcoming.

The hotel is an excellent and centric location within walking distance of all of Antigua's sites, stores and wonderful restaurants. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the installations are great--lovely garden with a big pool, verandah style restaurant overlooking the garden, cozy bar, spacious lobby, spa, etc. It's a hotel that is also good for weddings or similar events. Rooms are quiet and have air conditioning.
