We arrived late at night only to find out that the hot water boiler was broken and the hotel had no hot water all three nights we stayed there. They made it up by providing free buffet breakfast and they also offered a 25% discount on our stay, but to be honest we haven’t yet seen the refund

Booked for three days during a very busy period for Munich when the hotel daily rate was 5-6x the normal one and when it was the hottest days of the year when the temperature was around 35 Celsius. The AC in my room was not working. The hotel only managed to address the issue in the last evening so for 48h it was really difficult to stay in the room let alone sleep in it. Their technician arguably could not fix the issue before! They could not offer another room as they were full, no fan and the only thing the hotel offered was a bottle of water. It was a truly terrible experience especially considering that the daily rate for the specific nights was c €500!!

We loved the Platzl hotel! This will be our go-to hotel in Munich. The location was wonderful - just a block from Marienplatz, Hofbrau house and walking distance from everything in Old Town. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and they kindly upgraded our room and even gave us an extra bottle of wine and cakes and wrote us a nice card. The amenities were great - wonderful bathroom and shower. When we needed extra water it was always available in the lobby if you asked for it, or in the spa. We will definitely be back!

Breakfast was fine and the staff was excellent.
