In an attempt to make the hotel more popular, it seems the owners re-designed the exterior, the attached shops (Zephyr Walk) and the lobby to make it cool and modern, without maintaining the rooms at all. There is a surprise resort fee, which apparently can range from $30 a night to $45 a night - to cover “amenities”. I’ve stayed at, at least a half dozen other hotels that don’t charge $35 a night per room to light a couple fire pits. Just work it into the room price and stop surprising people. As soon as we checked in, we grabbed our bags and headed to our room, only to immediately get kicked out by housekeeping. They were in our room and just kept saying “just a minute” while we stood in the hallway with our luggage. Considering the hotel also does not allow you to use the bathroom in the lobby until you check in, and we had just driven for 3 hours, we were very uncomfortable. There were strange outlets cut into the side of the nightstand that didn’t seem safe.

Mauna Lani is one of the best properties we have ever stayed at. The staff is amazing and their subtle but amazing hospitality was wonderful. I just loved everything and the team was around to help with all our needs.

Overall, a comfortable and clean stay. Staff was professional and very friendly. The rooms are dated and worn. Saw some paint chipped off doors and walls. Scuffs all around. The hotel was undergoing renovations so maybe they will address the wear and tear of the rooms at some point. Saw some other complaints about the noise coming from Dukes, but it didn’t bother us and noise was over by the time we went to bed. Dukes sounded like a fun time! Despite the wear and tear, my husband and I enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the amenities and location. We would definitely recommend!

Everything was great, the staff was super friendly and super helpful, the room was clean and spacious with my family of 5. THE ONLY thing we had a problem with was the hours of the two other bars/restaurant. Granted we went durn the week but the resort was still busy. The pool side bar was only open on Sunday and Plaza del sol was only open because there was an event going on. Plus the food menu was different at all three. Other than that everything else was amazing.

The hotel was on a great location, very close to the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful, amenities excellent

Food at the restaurants was excellent. Wonderful and friendly staff as well.

Whole neighborhood wasnt safe. Several vagrants around. Pot could be smelled everywhere. Hallways outdated and rough looking. Elevator was a nightmare when trying to leave.

Hotel was older but clean. HVAC was really good. Having a balcony facing the mountain was a beautiful view every day/night. Staff was helpful and courteous.

I loved the villas. They were very spacious and had all of the important amenities for my stay - microwave, stove with oven, coffee maker and full sized refrigerator. It even had kitchen items like pots & pans, dinnerware and tableware. The bathroom and bedroom was spacious and the living room was nice and quaint. I had a patio. My villa was downstairs. I wish there was an elevator because my luggage was heavy. I didn’t visit the store/market. I did visit Canyon Grille. The food was good but service was a little slow. My waitress and the greeter were super nice but it seemed like they were understaffed. I liked the fitness facility. I don’t use the pool. The outdoor seating areas were nice. I visited their farmer’s market and it was excellent. My overall stay was magnificent.
