My wife and I spent 30 days traveling all over Ireland. We stayed in first class hotels all over the country except for in the North because we have our own place. we can not say enough about Ashford Castle and the staff. From the minute you arrive until your parting goodbye, it was first class all the way. We will definitely be back again, please God, to stay for longer than our first trip.

Bar and restaurant staff were excellent, attentive and provided great service. Front of house/reception staff in my opinion were less so. Reception staff set the scene therefore they should greet staff with a smile, be friendly and take some time to run through what’s what. This was missing. I also think that a surcharge of 17 euros for breakfast when paying 135 euros for accommodation is very expensive. I declined and went to the local town where my breakfast cost less than 10 euros

The stuff was friendly and the hotel lobby was magnificent but the building itself is old and the rooms show the age of the building, including the carpet, the furniture, the bathroom and especially the water pressure which was really bad, taking shower. Overall, the staff was friendly, and our stay was comfortable but our room did not meet our expectation and did not match the extravagance of the lobby. I suggested that the hotel undertakes renovation,of the rooms with new furniture, new carpet, upgrade of the bathrooms and more importantly, improvement of the water pressure.

The room was extremely small and claustrophobic. There was barely any space to move around the bed or have more than one or two piece of luggage in the room. There was no restaurant to provide breakfast despite recent renovation of the building, probably from a house to a hotel. I would not stay again there simply because of the size of the room, and the location. The location was also not desirable being at an intersection and loud. The staff was friendly.
