Do you want to know what whaling was like in the Cantabrian? What was the work of the Asturian fishermen at sea or the work of the sardines? Join us on this tour of the cultural memory of the port of Xixon and the seafaring area of Cimavilla.

Our itinerary will start at Casa Paquet and then head to the headquarters of the old dizzy guild, which would turn Xixon into an important whaling port.

Offshore fishing and the canning industry will take our attention in the vicinity of the old rula (the auction), to talk also about the charismatic sardines. We will continue our itinerary walking through the streets of the seafaring area of Cimavilla, remembering real characters like La Tarabica, Telvina, Rambal, and navigate their stories of life and work.

The activity includes entrance to the Casa Natal de Jovellanos, whose works relate to the sea and the men and women who forged the character of Barriu Altu.
