When I got up extra early to get a pool towel to get a lounge chair, the towel hut wasn't even open and yet there were at least half of the lounge chairs already "reserved" with pool towels. The pools were cold. Not many people were in them. Getting a reservation at the restaurants for dinner was difficult. I will not be staying here again. They managed to fix it both times, but it was an unfortunate problem. The food was average. The specialty restaurants were disappointing, but the à la carte options were generally good, with Mike’s coffee shop being the best. The coffee was excellent, and the snacks were very nice. The bartenders were all very gracious, with Eduardo being absolutely top-notch. The two biggest drawbacks were: everyone seemed to be trying to sell you something, to the point where I often avoided the lobby during the day to escape the persistent sales pitches. Even after waving them off, they would continue to press, which was a huge turn-off. I don’t go on vacation to be constantly sold things. Lastly, the service at the end of my stay was disappointing. My Uber was scheduled to arrive at 1:05, and check-out was at 12\. I asked if we could have an extra hour to grab lunch before our travel and was told no, as there is no late checkout, despite explaining that my room was completely cleaned out. We were just hoping to catch some lunch before our five-hour flight back. This was probably the worst experience I had during my stay. We particularly liked the seafood, Indian, and French. The room was larger than expected and we enjoyed the tub and large shower. The pool was quite cold this time of year, and though one area was heated, it did not ever seem to reach a comfortable temperature, so we did not spend much time in the water unfortunately. We sought out the hot tub areas but those were not too much warmer. The drinks by the pool were quite watered down which got old by the second day. Otherwise the drinks at other locations were much better so we usually sought these out in the afternoons and evenings, particularly the martini bar before dinner. I appreciated the custom drink menu at each bar, and enjoyed trying out different drinks at each. We were quite disappointed with the quality of the drinks at the coffee shop in particular, as we are big coffee drinkers, though we did still keep going back and trying new options each day and appreciated the coffee shop staff. The resort staff were a pleasure universally and I thought they struck a good balance between professional and friendly—they seemed well engaged and attentive to guest needs but I didn’t experience any forced / inauthentic social exchanges that are sometimes the norm at other resorts.
