The village boasts two thriving public houses, a well-stocked village store and a lovely coffee shop. This quaint cottage is filled with natural light and has recently been renovated by the owners Emma and Tim, who have created a real home from home. The sitting room has a cosy log burner and comfy sofas for relaxing at the end of a day out walking, while the separate dining room/conservatory looks out over the pretty cottage garden and terrace, perfect for gathering to catch up on the day’s adventures. The two bedrooms, both located on the first floor are an oasis of calm, tastefully decorated with a restful colour palette and enjoy lovely views out over the pretty garden. The bathroom is also on the first floor with a shower over bath, perfect for an invigorating start to the day. Outside you will find a pretty terraced garden with a table and chairs for al fresco dining, while the garden bench is the perfect spot for enjoying a sundowner as you take in the delights of this lovely private garden. Directly from the cottage you can pick up local walking trails and head out exploring North Yorkshire. The cottage is a true hideaway, tucked away up a little lane with a beautiful little garden which was full of flowers. It was very peaceful, virutally all we heard was the sound of birds and church bells. Ampleforth was very quiet and the coffee shop was a stone's throw away serving fabulous breakfasts and afternoon teas. We wanted to visit Helmsley Garden and Rievaulx Abbey and the cottage / Ampleforth was a very short drive so extremely well placed for our trip. There was a lovely welcome box of treats when we arrived and the cottage was very cosy, beds and sofas very comfortable. All in all perfect for us. ##### Judith M. Plenty of space, excellent service by manager Lisa...who lives very nearby, and very close to Helmsley, York etc., small but very adequate groicery very nearby, great coffeee shop virtually across the street (not open ..I think..Monday and Tuesday), and plenty of restaurants in the area. Overall, and bear in mind we are used to US accomodations, this is exactly what I think you'd expect, with all that you need ...the owners have a great place and the only thing they might do is improve the shower in the bathtub. Very minor thing...but its just a thought. ##### John F.
