This is the house that my grandfather grew up in. One of the main things that sticks out to me about this photo is the size of this home. My grandfather had 9 brothers and sisters and lived in this tiny house. This shows that family is a very important value to the Appalachian people. Because they all lived together until they were married, they were able to create unbreakable bonds. Another thing that I was thinking as I was looking at this house was that people in the "old days" worked hard for what they had yet they still were very poor. There are many houses that look very similar to this home in the back roads of small Appalachian towns. Our room was spacious and clean with comfortable bed and pillows. It’s an older hotel but well maintained. We had a couple of minor issues which were addressed and fixed immediately which was very impressive. Breakfast was nice and very well stocked and maintained. Hotel was quiet and great location. No big deal. We just wiped it out. The staff was pleasant and helpful in locating our room. The room was clean with a large refrigerator and microwave. No decaf coffee offered, but that was no biggie either. The bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay again on our ventures to visit our new great-grandbaby due in February.
