Upon entering the home you will be drawn to relax on the living room couch. Here for business? No worries, the desk in the living room is perfect for the work away from home lifestyle. The chef in you will be inspired by the kitchen, and you can enjoy your meal in the breakfast nook. Each bedroom has a queen bed and lots of storage space to unpack and stay awhile. The rear patio provides a myriad of opportunities for relaxing, meditating or enjoying a libation. The Space: Guests have the run of the ground floor apartment. It is fit for six people, with two comfy thick queen sized mattresses. It offers a queen size pull out couch in the living space, full bathroom, full kitchen with a coffee maker and microwave. There is a SmartTV in the living space, so guests can stream from their personal accounts and never miss an episode! The apartment is professionally cleaned before each stay. Nestled on a quiet one-way street of residential Logan Circle, the Grand Dame of Shaw sits just steps from the historic Naylor Court and Blagden Alley. Guest Access: Guests will have access to the entire lower level unit. It is not shared. There is a family living upstairs. Please note that the everyday sounds and noises of family life (footsteps, stairs, kids playing, etc.) can be heard in both directions. You will undoubtedly hear them (and they will hear you) as they go about their everyday life. The Neighborhood: Guests will undoubtedly find themselves nestled in one of the most historic, and sought after neighborhoods in the city! The home is located right on O Street and 11th Street. The area offers a diverse selection of entertainment, dining options, shopping, coffee shops and grocery stores. Whole Foods is a 10 min walk and Trader Joes is 15 minutes on foot. The 14th St dining scene really has become the culinary center for the city with all kinds of diverse cuisines ranging from chic and trendy to the hole-in-wall hidden treasures, French, Asian, Spanish, to Oyster Bars, Diners and much more. You'll want to take advantage of some of our favorite local recommendations. This downtown neighborhood is in the thick of all the action; walking distance to all the new and hottest DC restaurants and bars but still gives you the privacy and quiet of a residential street. Getting Around: You could not ask for better access! The apartment is a 14 min drive from National Airport and a 8 min drive from Union Station (Amtrak, and the hub of the major sights). It was a little tight with our 4 teens (we have a blended family) but we made it work well. I was thrilled that the apartment included complimentary coffee, filters, sugar, creamer, two different types of tea, as well as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, paper products and plenty of laundry and dish detergent. The outdoor patio space was nice. When I had a question for our host, Lara, she quickly responded. Check in process was easy. It would have been nice to have had a mirror in the main bedroom, but that may only be an issue for us as we do have 3 teen daughters 😅 Overall, loved this place and would highly recommend! ##### Arleah W. I would add perspective to this review but VRBO limits how much I can write. This property is a garden level 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment, located in a gentrified neighborhood proximal to the city center. It presented as described on the VRBO website. The kitchen was well equipped with dishware/glassware and with good appliances.The central heating was adequate. A ride share was never more than a few minutes away.The street had the feel of an affluent urban neighborhood with lots of people walking dogs or going about their lives.A few good restaurants (Unconventional Diner, Ghostburger, Mariscos) and a small food mart are easily reached on foot. Walking at night did not cause concern.This stay was marred by significant plumbing problems. We could not bathe for the first 48 hours due to a lack of hot water, and even after a plumber reportedly repaired a broken bathtub faucet, we found it difficult to use the shower because of tepid water temperature, and warm water turning cold quickly. A chief reason for choosing this property was for its bathtub; however, the tub could not be used for a lack of hot water. The property manager responded promptly when contacted the morning after our arrival; however, the person they sent to fix the problem, on the third day, could not achieve improvements to a satisfactory level.
