Overall the property is nice however there are some signs of age. The elevator to the parking garage was out of order during my stay which meant going up and down 2 or 3 floors. Not a big deal, but a small inconvenience. Also while my room was clean, it was musty. It smelled like there has been a lot of cooking in the kitchen and the kitchen odors have gotten into the furniture and carpet. It needs freshening up. The location is fantastic for exploring DC and old town. The room was comfortable and clean but could use a little updating. It had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. The common areas were gorgeous and Honestly the staff were amazingly kind and courteous. They really made it a wonderful stay. I felt it was a good value and free parting with in and out privileges was a big plus too. I planned a surprise birthday dinner for my husband and as we were getting ready, realized the iron did not work. I called the front desk at 6:45 pm to ask for a new iron and was told “I’ll see if the porter is still here, if not you’ll just have to wait to tomorrow and deal with it”. We had no choice but to arrive to an upscale restaurant wrinkled because no one was courteous enough to grab an iron from an empty room. The next morning the shower handle fell off and we had to screw it back in. Then as we were getting dressed noticed the pillow cases were dirty/moldy but the bed had been made with the dirty side down so it was not immediately noticeable. Absolutely disgusting to think we laid our heads and face on these pillows for two nights.
