Video tour of the apartment is available on request. The Neighborhood: Penn Quarter is a neighborhood in the East End of Downtown Washington, D.C. north of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Its boundaries are not well established, but they appear to extend along F Street NW from 5th to 10th Streets, and approximately H Street on the north where Penn Quarter abuts or partially overlaps with Chinatown. Penn Quarter is southeast of the Metro Center shopping district. Penn Quarter has been rejuvenated over the past several decades, stimulated first by the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation (PADC) and later, following the recession in the 1990s, by the Verizon Center, a sports, concert and event arena that opened nearby at 7th and F streets in 1997 as the MCI Center. Penn Quarter now boasts a variety of entertainment and commercial establishments including museums, theaters, restaurants, bars, and contemporary art galleries. The area is also home to a popular farmers market and several food, wine, art, and culture focused festivals. Penn Quarter is home to many restaurants, cultural, and entertainment venues in Washington, D.C. On Thursday afternoons in spring, summer, and fall, the FRESHFARM Penn Quarter farmers market is open on 8th Street, just south of E Street. The Newseum is located at the intersection of 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The building also includes offices and television studio space, The Source restaurant by Wolfgang Puck, and the Newseum Residences, an apartment rental community. The neighborhood is served by a variety of recreational and entertainment facilities including seven theaters, Lucky Strike bowling and several exercise clubs. Other neighborhood amenities include several coffee shops and a teahouse / restaurant on 8th Street; three salons with day spas; the nearby Landmark E Street Cinema, which screens independent films; Regal Theater; and shops selling clothing, jewelry, ice cream, and books, among other things. Over the past thirty years the neighborhood has transformed from a sleepy, nondescript part of downtown into a vibrant 24-hour residential and commercial community. The location was PRIME, with fantastic views. The host company was communicative. Beds, couch, & arm chair were comfortable. Everything in the unit worked well & was exactly as expected. It was the perfect place for us!We are giving our stay 5 stars, despite some things that could be improved, because the positives far outweigh the issues, some of which are not in the host company’s control. The parking and elevator situation is VERY confusing. The binder says to talk to the front desk about parking, but when we checked in the very kind gentleman working there did not speak much English. Since the parking passes are coordinated by the host management company, even though they are paid for separately, & it connects to which elevator you take/where you end up in the building, I think the host management company should have a write up for each unit, explaining where to park in the garage (reserved for residents? Visitors/commercial?) & which elevator to take to get closest to the unit you’re staying in. Dealing with all of that was stressful, confusing, & frustrating; it made our stay go less smoothly. This would be an easy thing for the management co to address and add to the email sent out to people who book. We were VERY excited to use the 24 hour jacuzzi, sauna, & steam room. None of which were working. It was 8pm on Friday & there was really no one to ask for help. That was a major bummer! The pool looked really nice tho! ##### Sarah S. The apartment was as described, clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. I would suggest new living room furniture as it was fairly uncomfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with the needed utensils, etc and we had a good amount of starter stock for toilet paper, etc. Parking is extra but at only 16/day it was super reasonable. Everything was as advertised, clean, and ready to use. There was one minor issue with the oven that the property manager had fixed incredibly fast. It was so close to everything! There were so many high and low range dining options. Museums were all walkable distance. The area was so clean and safe. We even caught a Wizard’s game just because it was a block away! The unit is on the corner and had fun views out the 8th story window. With kids, having a pool to use was also a pretty big plus. The unit was sparse on cooking utensils which was fine as we only had breakfast at the house before heading out. We made a pit stop at Walgreens and purchased a few essential tools and left them behind. ##### Sohee W.
