Welcome to The Historic Wailuku Inn, a fully restored 1924 estate with 10 en-suite bedrooms surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and meandering plumeria-lined pathways. Wake to a chef-prepared farm-to-table breakfast, unwind on grand lanais, and explore Maui with ease from this central location. Featured by the Wall Street Journal (Apr 18 2025) as an authentic alternative to mega-resorts, the inn offers exclusive whole-property luxury—perfect for family reunions, wedding parties, and corporate retreats.  
  
The Space:  
Slip past the white picket gate and discover an intimate ½-acre sanctuary where plumeria-scented paths meander between two distinctive plantation-era homes. Built in 1924, the Main House—originally the Lufkin residence—still showcases its soaring ceilings, classic crown moulding, and gracious wraparound veranda. Now transformed into seven airy guest suites, the home blends timeless Hawaiian architecture with refreshed island style and thoughtful modern touches.  
  
A short stroll through the tropical landscaping brings you to the Fairbanks House—added decades later to create a more private retreat. Its three garden-view suites offer added quiet and separation, perfect for early risers, multigenerational families, or anyone craving a peaceful lanai at day’s end.  
  
Shared spaces throughout the estate invite your group to gather and unwind. Start your mornings with Kona coffee on the shaded front lanai. Curl up in the cozy library lounge for a quiet moment or a spirited board game. Share meals and stories in the dining hall, where up to twenty guests can sit comfortably beneath the slow spin of ceiling fans. Outside, the gardens overflow with palms, orchids, and vibrant tropical plantings—offering shaded nooks for reading, reflection, or conversation.  
  
Each of the inn’s ten suites is uniquely designed, combining vintage charm with island sensibility—featuring thoughtful details, curated artwork, and a warm, welcoming feel—and includes

Mini-fridge, Keurig coffee station, and locally curated snacks  
  
Private en-suite bathroom with spa-grade toiletries  
  
Beach-day gear—towels, fold-up chairs, and coolers—is yours to grab. Two washer/dryer sets and secure board storage make cleanup easy after a day of adventure. With 14 on-site parking spaces and no resort fees, ease and access are built in.  
  
Each morning begins with a chef-prepared, farm-to-table breakfast, served family-style in the dining room or al fresco on the veranda—often featuring fruit freshly picked from the inn’s own trees. Touchless check-in after 3:00 p.m. and concierge support via text let your group settle in seamlessly and start living the Maui story you came for.  
  
The property can host up to 20 guests. Some booking platforms display lower limits—Airbnb (16) and Vrbo (14). If your group is larger than the occupancy shown on those sites, just send us a message and we’ll be happy to assist with your booking.

Historic Wailuku Town blends old-Hawaii charm with a growing food and arts scene. Walk to indie cafés, galleries, First Friday street festivals, and the 1928 Iao Theater. The dramatic ʻĪao Valley State Park is a 5-minute drive, while beaches in Kihei, Paʻia, and Kāʻanapali are 20-30 minutes away.  
  
Getting Around:  
A rental car is helpful for exploring the island, but ride-shares and the Maui Bus stop two blocks from the inn.  
Distances: 15 min to OGG Airport • 5 min to ʻĪao Valley • 20 min to Kihei beaches • 25 min to Paʻia • 35 min to Lahaina.
