Probably the most disgusting aspect was that we found mouse/rat droppings in multiple kitchen drawers and cupboards as well as in the basement, multiple doors didn’t close or stay shut including the bathroom door off of the living room where everyone gathered so we had to stack books behind the door any time someone needed to use the bathroom. I would absolutely look elsewhere and would not recommend anyone stay here for the price. ##### Bailey S. The house is right on the channel coming in from the bay. We brought our paddelboard and used it almost every day. Local neighbor was super nice. The beach was clean and not super busy. There is shopping and restaurants close, and the VA beach boardwalk is within 30 minutes driving distance. The house was not as clean as I was expecting, but it is also the middle of vacation season. The roof was leaky in a couple spots during a really hard rain. I notified the company, which said they will reach out to the owners of the house. 12 people fit very comfortably in the house. The kids and adults loved the pool and recreation area in the basement. The house kept very cool the whole time, which was nice on 90 degree days. All in all it was a fun, relaxing stay. It was good but not great, especially considering the price. The good: - location, back deck( off kitchen) and pool. ( Note: there are no screens on the decks in case you couldn’t discern via photos). The living room, game room, dining room, bathrooms and kitchen sink were clean when we arrived. The not-so-good: - for a house that sleeps 13, there were only 12 forks and 2 ice cube trays ( neither of the ice makers worked). Basic maintenance of the interior was necessary for a better experience ( i.e. fan in upstairs bedroom seemed like it was going to fall while it was running). - The living room furniture is due to be replaced because it’s got a bit of and odor and the cushions are squished. - There were spider webs and dust clumps - Both ovens and kitchens cabinets were dirty - The kitchen window was very dirty/ corroded inside and out and needed to be cleaned. - The deck rug and patio were dirty and had to be swept to get dirt and lots of dog hair off of it. - The doors, railing and walls had chipped paint/ grime on them too. - The dining room ceiling and game room leaked during the rain. Whoever rented after we left, benefited from the cleaning we did. If you are reading this and assume we are just picky, it’s not the case; we rent something every year and know that sometimes we need to clean some things to be more comfortable. Very comfortable and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Check in was hassle free. The home was clean and neat. Multiple steps were not great for my arthritis but I managed. Pool was clean and they have plenty of kid toys and supplies for children of all ages. My son stayed in the pool even though the weather was not great. Neighbors were very friendly. The house itself was clean and had more than enough room for all of us. The dining room table fit everyone comfortably and the kitchen was stocked with enough plates and utensils for everyone. The kids claimed the lower level/game room and the adults were able to enjoy the middle level during the day. We also enjoyed the pool during the day and the short walk to the beach in the evenings. In a previous post, it was mentioned about the need for a pool cleaning company, they came twice during our stay. The extra pool toys and beach items were a great plus, especially with kids that wanted to stay in the pool as much as possible. I enjoyed the peaceful mornings on the covered deck overlooking the waterway and also enjoyed the hammock. Nicholette was quick to respond with any questions/concerns during the stay and helped to get us into the house when we got the wrong code sent to us. The only thing I would tell others about is the spiral staircase to the lower level/game room. We didn't have any issues with it, but it did come as a surprise to us (I personally used the outside steps as much as possible as there is access from the rear of the house as well). Otherwise, I would recommend and stay again! ##### Jennifer H. We had 3 families traveling together, grandma, myself, and my sister plus our respective families, 9 people total. The layout of the house is such that each family claimed a floor, we were able to isolate the 18mo and 6yr old on the top level so they could go to bed early and the rest of us would go down to the game room on the bottom level in the evenings to watch movies (the baby monitor signal made it down just fine). House was well furnished, kitchen was well stocked, and there were a ton of pool toys for the kids which is a nice plus. There are 3 wagons for dragging things down to the beach (\~10 minute walk with small kids not being carried, 6 minutes if they are) and a grill next to the pool for cooking dinner afterwards while the kids play in the pool. There's also a pier out back for fishing/boating as well. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to catch anything, but the weather/tides/etc weren't in my favor. We liked the house and plan on renting it again when we vacation in Sandbridge in the next summer or two. ##### Karl M. Love that we had a pool and also were close to the beach. We had a great time.
