I was close to all the hiking spots I wanted to visit. The symphony of ravens was a treat, and I even got to see a bear on the trail! Two old Ladies who used to cycle on the Galloping Goose spent two very comfortable days at Laura's apartment. This was ideal from our point of view with fully appointed kitchen, very comfortable beds, and lovely view of the garden at the end of which was the trail. It is close to downtown Sooke, which has a good grocery store and restaurants. The building itself has solar panels which serve the electrical needs of the apartment.. The unit is on a large, well maintained acreage bordering the galloping goose and road to the potholes. It made for some lovely walks right from the door. The hosts were very accomodating for our toddler by providing a baby gate and high chair as well as letting us puts around the yard. The unit was fully equipped with new appliances and the kitchen was gorgeous. We'd love to stay here again the next time we're in Sooke. ##### Bryan H. It has direct walk-out-the-door access to the Galloping Goose trail and then a short \~2 km walk to a trailhead for the dozens of networked trails in the neighbouring regional parks. Once off the main trail I walked \~4 hours without seeing anyone. The place is spotless and very modern, with lots of crafty woodwork done by the owner. The kitchen is fantastic and well supplied with the basics. Most importantly, it is QUIET. No road noise, no neighbour noise… just the wind blowing outside. A perfect retreat. ##### Fraser H. The perpetually backed-up traffic into town was a bit of an annoying and unforeseen problem. I liked the booklet the host left for us - appreciated the local tips on food and outings. Also appreciated the playpen and lots of extra blankets. (A high chair would’ve been awesome!) But while one of the queen beds was super comfy, the other definitely was not. Also had ongoing issues with the tv while we were trying to play music. The bbq was a bit out of the way and we didn’t have utensils. But overall a very enjoyable stay. ##### Jordi S.
