Okanagan Mountain Retreat - Want to feel like you’re vacationing right on the mountain? This incredible, 3 bedroom and 2-bathroom log house sleeps 6 and sits on 5 wooded acres. Just 12 minutes drive from Silver Star Mountain, it’s that extra bit of space that you may need for your winter holiday. Bedroom Configuration: Bedroom 1: King Bed (sleeps 2) with ensuite with kids nook Bedroom 2: Queen Bed (sleeps 2) Bedroom 3: Queen Bed (sleeps 2) Kids nook in the master is the perfect spot for your little traveler. It has a single bed and the bedroom has a window with beautiful views. If you do have a child, Okanagan Mountain Retreat can sleep 7 guests. Bathrooms: Bathroom 1: Full Ensuite with Stand Up Shower Bathroom 2: Full Bathroom with Bathtub and Shower Walk through the front door to the open living area with a kitchen, dining room and cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace – perfect for snowy evenings. When you step outside from the main living area, you’ll find an incredible deck with lots of seating and views of the forest. On this level and off the living room, you will also find an alcove with a desk and stationary bike. From here, you can head upstairs to the master bedroom with full ensuite and kids sleeping nook. Don’t feel like leaving the property? Explore the 5 acres on the already created trail system. The perfect way to start your day! Your dog will love this house too. Not only will your dog be able to enjoy the trails and trees with you but there is a locked dog area where you can leave him or her for the day while you’re up skiing! There is an outdoor firepit for you to use while you're outside enjoying nature but it's not available during the summer when there is an active fire ban. Okanagan Mountain Retreat has central air conditioning for cooling off on those warmer summer days. There is a large driveway with enough parking for 3+ vehicles. We enjoyed walking our dog on the trails and were grateful for the air conditioning, as he has a full fur coat. The beds are comfortable, and the kitchen well stocked. It was warm, comfortable and cozy. The home lacked for nothing and we were able to make a real fire in the fireplace in the evenings and enjoy the hot tub after skiing. We explored the trails in the woods with the dogs. It was close to Silver Star Ski Resort and to the town of Vernon. The home had all of the technology we are used to, such as wifi and a big screen TV, for movie watching in the evenings. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and we were able to prepare some memorable meals. The host was very responsive. This is a great place to stay." - January 2024 "We booked the Mountain retreat property for the month of February 2023\. First impressions are that the property is well maintained and care and thought have been put into making sure that guests have all the amenities they need to have a wonderful stay. Having space to have our dogs with us was a big plus, whether they were out on the trails up the hill behind the house, or on the porch they were happy with having a place to roam. We have very responsive dogs that stick pretty close to the house. When we did occasionally leave the property without them we opted to put them in the oversized fenced area so they could be safe outside but also comfortable. Honestly the owners have put a LOT of thought into making things accessible for those traveling with pets. We did not give our dogs free rein in the house but rather chose to keep them contained- less mess for us to clean up! The log home is cozy and it is SO quiet, we rarely heard road noise, occasionally there was a dog barking in the distance but nothing that interrupted us. We loved the 2 person hot tub - it was the perfect size for our group and it was easy to run. Its location at the back of the house is perfect for a midnight soak and look at the stars! Having access to laundry facilities onsite was huge for us and if you were traveling with children that would be a huge bonus. There are three large bedrooms and floor space for more if need be. The kitchen has everything you would need. The furnace keeps everything warm. We were in the area to ski and hike and the location of the house is perfect for both. 12 minutes up the hill to Silver Star and 5-7 minutes down the hill to Vernon. We loved the location. We felt very safe here. There is ample parking available, a fire pit with lots of wood if you want to have an outside fire. Check in was seamless, the house was spotless and there was lots of room for 2 couples. The location was great for exploring Vernon, we biked around Kalamaka and Woods Lake and had a lovely hike, both were only 20 minutes from the accommodation. Very inviting and so many places to sit outside. Lots of happy surprises like fitness equipment, hammock, secret porch off fitness room and 200 meters to a fabulous hike at BX trail. Quiet chalet on a wooded property, incredibly spacious, all our needs were completely met. We brought along our Lab and we were blown away by the TWO outdoor very large enclosures and all the trails across the large property. The two person hot tub was fantastic, the house was clean and very user friendly. 15 minutes up the hill and 10 minutes to groceries/ gas back into Vernon made it the perfect proximity for us. Overall everything was great and we'll be looking to book again. Can't say enough about the place. Wonderful winter vacation for our family! ##### Craig M. Very clean, cozy and private. The only thing that would hold us back from visiting again is the cancellation policy. The trip was non-refundable. I found it stressful leading up to the trip knowing that we couldn’t get our money back if we needed to cancel. Otherwise, I would recommend it. ##### Katie J. To their credit all their stuff was removed, but their pictures were everywhere. We took them down carefully as that was a bit awkward. The bathroom had hair on the counter. Not a huge deal, but didn’t feel professionally cleaned on arrival with dirty dishes in the dishwasher too. 2\. Lack of matching dishes: at the rate we paid I expected full nice sets to host the family. 3\. Insufficient directions on how to run the quirky dishwasher, flu on the fire place and hot tub. Thankfully Silverstar was able to get in touch with the owner and sort it out. Reasons we loved it: 1\. Space: lots of space as stated on the website. This made it very dog friendly.. 2\. Away in nature: we saw a beautiful dawn and another day a full family of deer. 3\. Fire place: nice to roast marshmallows inside on a cool day when there’s a fire ban. 4\. Quiet: So quiet with crickets or frogs singing outside at night. 5\. Close to Vernon: so close to everything 6\. Check in and check out: so easy, no extra cleaning required. ##### Charissa S.
