Pros:
Clean, with nice old-style furniture in good condition.
Excellent location if you are okay with not staying near the beach.
Tons of restaurants (check reviews before going), live music, handicraft stores, the famous Güero Güera ice cream shops, La Parroquia restaurants, local shoe stores, and more.
Gentle and helpful staff, although some do not speak English.
Close to the Malecón, tourist two-story open bus rides, the Marines Museum, and many historical buildings.
Cons:
Outdoor live music can be annoying late at night.
If you need a safe, make sure you request a room with a working one, and double-check that it is securely attached to the wall when you arrive.
Far from the nicest beaches.

Average Hotel, but great location
Room was clean but worn. Okay for overnight stay which is what I utilized it for. The lobby was clean, but the carpets in the room floors should be replaced and were not vacuumed. Outside bar was good. I would stay there again because I liked the location in the heart of the city; will look for other accommodations also.
Property location is near by restaurants and shops.
The room was big.

I’ve lived and stayed at this hotel since 1979. It is sad to see how run down the place is. It needs attention. However, the staff is amazing, it is clean and safe.
The staff was friendly and helpful, especially at the end of our 3-night stay by arranging our early morning taxi to the airport. The room was clean and large with a table and two chairs, and a king-sized bed. The hotel is right on the main square (el zocalo) so we could go out and hear live music and see dances.
Unfortunately, as with many old buildings, there was an awful smell of the sewer emanating from the bathroom. It seemed to be strongest in the morning. But, short of knocking the beautiful hotel down and rebuilding, there is probably very little that be done to improve the smell.

Everything was good except the room I stayed at AC wasn't great, it wasn't properly cleaned. Pool area was disgusting bird poop everywhere. Staff was great.
The elevator works great. The staff that check you in was not friendly and barely acknowledged us. But the car attendant staff was super great!
Our room was basic, pretty standard, but the lobby was beautiful. You have to put a room key in a slot in order to turn on the air and the lights. So that way, when you leave have to take your room key, you cannot leave the air or the lights on. That was strange, but it worked out fine!
This property should NOT be advertised as a 4 star hotel, it is not. It's a shame, because the building is historical, the rooms need a remodeling, not enough outlets, the shower is scary. Now, the staff in the parking garage super attentive, as well as the maids, but the guys at the front desk are super rude, specially the young kid working generally at night, I checked in on Friday the 2nd around 8 pm and the young gentleman at the front desk it made it seem like I was inconveniencing him and he could not wait to sit in the corner checking his phone. The next day I needed a taxi in the morning and the second guy at the desk said they may not come in because they're doing work in the side streets, even though there's still access to the hotel, customer service for these two guys is not their thing. I would not go back to this property.
The hotel has a nice atmosphere, with friendly staff and rooms that match the expected quality for the price. However, I did encounter a few issues during my stay.
Upon check-in, I accidentally dropped my money pouch containing approximately 300 Mexican pesos inside the elevator. I realized it was missing within two minutes and immediately retraced my steps to the front desk to report it. Unfortunately, no one turned it in.
Additionally, I typically receive my invoice via email for billing purposes, but despite requesting it twice, I have yet to receive it.
There were also a few maintenance concerns: the room curtains did not close properly, leaving a noticeable gap, and the cable TV was not functioning upon arrival. While the maintenance staff was able to fix the issue, it took about 30 minutes.
Despite these setbacks, the hotel is overall acceptable.
