Telmo was so kind and helpful before and during our stay, as were all the staff. We had an excellent tour and tasting, and we decided to eat in both minus (a good decision). "You must have a car while visiting this property. Otherwise there is nothing to do. There is a very nice outdoor pool that is not heated. So it must be warm enough outside to enjoy it. The hotel offers a nice breakfast. There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel. About a half mile walk from the hotel is a very expensive restaurant with a limited menu. I don't believe it is open for lunch. Another reason you need a car. During check in I noticed a large hose slightly larger than a dryer hose going into one of the rooms down the hallway. I inquired about it and the staff said it was for construction. After checking into our downstairs room which was very nice ( the hotel is a beautiful property with beautiful views of the vineyards and countryside) we went for a walk on the property. We noticed a red truck in the courtyard with a hose going inside the hotel. This was the hose I saw earlier. The truck said Heatwork, Rentokil. My wife believed it was for the killing of bedbugs. We left the next day one day earlier than our planned stay and were not given a refund. The hotel did not answer or reply to my calls or email when asking for a refund for the one night. In summary, a great place to stay if you have a car and just want to chill at the pool."

"The property is well situated about half way if doing the Douro drive loop. Grounds are lovely with rooms overlooking vineyards - very serene and quiet. Lots of onsite parking. Staff encourage picking and eating fruit off the trees - the oranges are excellent! There is a nice pool area. At check in staff member was very helpful suggesting points of interest, restaurants, etc. The room and washroom was very dated with a large veranda. There was mold on the ceiling in the washroom. The bed was horrible, it creaked and the mattress was very uncomfortable. The pillows were old and flat. Unfortunately we did not get a restful sleep. Breakfast was good - typical continental with lots of homemade goods. "

"Property is nice, but style is somewhat dated. I was getting a 2010 vibe. Just passing through Chaves, stayed for one night. Room was clean and we didn't have any issues. Only had interaction with front desk staff for check-in/out, and they were nice. Outside was a bit noisy at night, the property is right in front of a roundabout."
