Located in a privileged geographical position, just 45 minutes from Madrid and the airport, is a magnificent place to visit places of tourist interest in the non-coastal Spain, with places like El Escorial, Segovia, Avila, Toledo and Salamanca. In addition to the palace the complex includes a basilica, a convent, a school, a library, and a pantheon. While El Escorial is impressive from the outside, we actually found it a little austere on the inside. In many ways it felt more like a fine art museum than a typically elaborate European palace (such as Versailles). That said, there are some impressive sights, including works by El Greco, Bernini, and Giardini. The library was also quite beautiful, with richly carved wood shelves, a marble floor, and a colorful fresco ceiling by Pellegrino Tibaldi. For me, the highlight of the tour was the 180ft long (55m) Hall of Battles – a barrel-vaulted room where the walls were completely covered in frescos depicting Spain's military victories over the Moors and the French. All aspects of the battle field were portrayed (when you have 180ft, that is quite doable), and the artist employed an interesting trick whereby the more distant, smaller scenes were less saturated, and the background mountains and landscape were set in hues of blue. Es una vivienda con una peculiar y comodísima distribución y un verdadero disfrute por su buen gusto. Tiene un amplísimo salón con acogedores porches para disfrutar del jardín integrado en el paisaje autóctono y es encantador el ambiente nocturno al calor de la chimenea. Sep 23, 2016 #### Una casa con mucho gusto Decidí celebrar mi cumpleaños con mi familia en esa casa, un findesemana tranquilo, barbacoa y que el perro suelte un poco las patas. Hay que destacar el exquisito gusto con el que esta decorada la casa, la limpieza y la higiene que rodea todos los elementos. Quizás, como contrapunto, la cocina, si es tu pasión puedes notarla un poco pequeña; eso sí, no hay instrumento, plato o cachibache que no haya en esa cocina, absolutamente todo. Le doy solo cuatro estrellas porque el tiempo no acompañó, y no pudimos disfrutar de las piscina y eso influye en la experiencia. ##### Alia B. Jul 1, 2016 #### Un gran acierto La casa de Joaquín en Valdemorillo combina a la perfección el buen gusto con lo funcional. Es perfecta tanto para invierno como para verano. Nosotros estuvimos en uno de esos fines de semana de primavera en que curiosamente se concentran las cuatro estaciones del año y pudimos comprobarlo. La arquitectura aúna la tradición de la casa tradicional de la sierra madrileña con el diseño moderno interior. Comodidad y hedonismo garantizados gracias tanto al diseño interior: camas y dormitorios cómodos y estancias comunes espaciosas y acogedoras con grandes sofás y mesas, como a la disposición exterior: gran porche cubierto con vistas a un espacioso jardín que además de hermosos árboles cuenta con una bellísima piedra muy característica de la orografía autóctona. La piscina también está ubicada en el lugar idóneo y construida con gusto. El conjunto es íntimo y relajante. En la casa hay todo tipo de utensilios y está cerca de todo tipo de servicios. No echamos de menos nada y todo estaba limpio y ordenado. Pero sin duda, lo más importante para nosotros fue la amabilidad de Joaquín, su implicación y accesibilidad en todo momento y su interés por que pasáramos un excelente fin de semana. There is an enormous sitting/dining room with a large terrace and several seating areas, each with comfortable chairs and sofas. The garden is very unusual and pretty; a large rock is the central feature, a pool one side and lawns on the other and there is plenty of comfortable garden furniture. There are three bedrooms; a double and twin upstairs and a small double downstairs, each bedroom has a bathroom next door. The showers and hot water worked well. It was a pleasure to meet Joaquin - he is friendly, civilized and accommodating. He kindly emailed us in English as our Spanish is almost non-existent. The house is part weekend retreat for him and his family and part holiday let, as such it has the air of a stylish family home. It will suit those looking for a refined holiday. We divided our time between relaxation and visits to Segovia and Avila (both just under an hour away) and to El Escorial. Madrid is easily accessible but we didn't go there. Staying here for six days was the highlight of our three week holiday and we hope to return. ##### Kate D. May 18, 2016 #### Casa con encanto, con todo lujo de detalles y comodidades. Casa de 3 habitaciones. Con muchas comodidades. Pudimos disfrutar de la barbacoa y el jardín que estaba precioso. Joaquín muy atento y simpático, nos facilitó toda la información y necesidades que le planteamos. Ha sido un lujo y un placer disfrutar del entorno tan bonito en el que se encuentra la casa, en naturaleza con árboles autóctonos. También pudimos disfrutar de la compañía de nuestro perro. La casa estaba limpia, hay mucho menaje, vasos, platos, fuentes, copas, el porche una maravilla, el salón inmenso, soleado y con varios ambientes diferenciados. Volveremos. Nos quedamos con las ganas de disfrutar de la piscina. Una casa completa, un entorno tranquilo y precioso, Joaquín nos facilitó mucho la estancia. ##### Raul P. Tiene todo lo que puedes necesitar para disfrutar al máximo de tu estancia. Joaquín está pendiente de todo y te ayuda en todo lo que puedas necesitar.
