This hotel is great. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and hard working. The rooms are clean and are cleaned daily. I highly recommend getting the breakfast ( we booked it online which included brekky) it was great with fruit platters, fresh fruit juices, eggs and other options to. The fact that the hotel is right on the beach is amazing. It’s great to wake up to and it’s great water to walk down and swim in. Staff were so friendly and professional, the view is out of this world and the room was gorgeous and clean. 10/10! The breakfast was delicious and made even better by the view of the ocean again as you’re seated right by it. The hotel doesn’t exactly have a private beach though as the beach chairs and sand take up a small area in the hotel and are not connected to the actual beach and ocean. There is a short (one foot tall) wall and a lot of large rocks in between. The poool is a bit small as well. However, it is no a big deal because the hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from large beaches that were quite empty. There is a beach on the left and on the right of the hotel. I would suggest future guests and to go to the beach that is on the left of the hotelvwhen facing the ocean (further from Galle Fort) since it seems closer and larger. ##### Aleena Stayed 1 night in Aug 2018 ### 6/10 Okay #### Ki Jul 8, 2018 Liked: Staff & service Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities #### Nice Staff, Not a 4 Star Hotel The hotel staff is incredibly nice, and accommodating. However, this is not a 4 star hotel. If you are accustomed to 4 star hotels, you may want to consider staying elsewhere. At best, this hotel is a 3 star hotel. Our room did not feel "clean", and there were ants in our room. The floors in the rooms need to be replaced, and the hotel needs new paint. The pool area was filled with leaves. Our tv did not work, and after calling about the issue 6 times, I was provided with no solution or alternative. I awoke at 3am to retrieve ice, and was told by the security guard, there was no one on staff. I understand this is a small hotel, however, anything can happen in the middle of the night, and to not have any staff present, did not sit well with me. The food at this hotel is very tasty, and you are able to have the breakfast included in your room, which is a very nice accommodation. If you are looking for a hotel with good food, and a hotel right on the beach, this is the hotel for you. The room itself is great but the property isn’t and the area isn’t great either. The pool is super small, there’s no actual beach, and it’s a bit run down in general. The staff was super nice though. Poolen e väldigt liten och hotellet har ingen riktig privat strand, bara en liten plätt av sand o solstolar. Det finns en lång, fin, tom strand som du kan vara på o bada ifrån bara 50m från hotellet. Ingen access till stranden direkt från hotellet. Restaurangen på hotellet är otroligt bra, bästa maten vi åt på resan!! Dyrare, men inte dyrare än hemma. Läget är sådär, du måste ta en tuk tuk 15min för o komma till andra restauranger. This was our second stay at Cataloupe Aqua, we had great memories of our balcony over the sea and delicious food at their restaurant. The standard of the rooms really varies, so if you book a standard room, you could wind up in a smallish room which abuts the highway, and although it can’t be seen from the windows or balcony, you’ll sure hear it! Sri Lankan drivers seem to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the horn! If you are not sensitive to noise, then it’s fine but I found it really unpleasant. The next morning we moved to a much larger room at the other end of the hotel and it was pure bliss. The windows and balcony are mere feet from the sea and the sound of the waves lapping was delicious! The resort is 5 mins by tuk tuk to Unawatuna shops and restaurants. The beach outside is almost deserted and really clean with a good stretch of about 3.5km which provides an excellent running or walking track for those so inclined. The food was as I remembered it - absolutely fabulous! We ate most of our meals by the pool and the variety, quality, presentation and flavours were amazing. The general manager, the reception staff, restaurant staff and everyone we encountered, were really friendly and helpful.
