Experience a private Lake Michigan waterfront retreat that was a highly successful VRBO for 9 years—and is now back on the market. Many of our guests returned year after year, making this a favorite Northern Michigan getaway.
This beautifully updated home offers 100 feet of West Bay frontage, providing the perfect setting to relax, unwind, and take in the stunning views. Ideally located along M-22 between Suttons Bay and Traverse City, the property is just 7 minutes from Traverse City and offers easy access to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Grand Traverse Bay, and Leelanau Peninsula for scenic drives, beaches, and outdoor adventures.
The home features 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, comfortably accommodating up to 6 guests. The main floor includes a spacious primary suite with a private en suite bathroom and walk-in shower. Upstairs, you’ll find two large bedrooms and a shared full bath—perfect for families or small groups.
Enjoy the open, updated kitchen equipped with everything you need for dining in or entertaining, along with a bright and inviting living space. Additional conveniences include high-speed WiFi, air conditioning, and an in-home laundry area.
Take full advantage of the outdoor living spaces—relax on the front porch, unwind on the large back deck, or gather around the firepit for a memorable evening by the lake.

Waterfront house

The accommodations were fine and access to the property was easy. It’s located some distance to restaurants and grocery shopping, but not an inconvenience. One issue we did have was access to the dock. We were lead to believe that it was a part of the property itself even though it was across from a somewhat busy road. We only learned of not having access to it only upon reading rules of the house. Fortunately, we didn’t need the dock, but it would have been nice to see the bay close up.

Beautiful home on Grand Traverse Bay

The home is beautiful, spacious and comfortable with everything you need. The property is also lovely, with a beautiful backyard and lake across the street. We enjoyed sitting on the beach deck right on the bay.

Beautiful View

The house was very nice and clean and had most of the things we needed for our stay. The view of the lake was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting by the water a couple of evenings. We even got in the water for a little bit! The back yard and back deck were also very nice. We grilled out one night on the charcoal grill and had a weiner roast using the fire pit one night. The only issues we had were minor inconveniences and we did not even mention them during our stay. There is no garbage disposal which makes clean up a little more cumbersome. There is no water or ice from the refrigerator, it looks like the water line is not hooked up, this just forced us to buy bottled water and make ice since all four in our group carry iron flask water bottles. The fire in the pit was challenging to get started because the sprinkler system comes on in the mornings and dampens the wood/brush in the pit....we got it going eventually though! The traffic as others have mentioned is VERY loud and was constant during the time we spent there....this however was already expected. The property was great overall and the location worked well for us. We did a tour of the asylum in Traverse City one night, kayaked the Crystal River, spent a day at Old Mission and of course visited some wineries and other places along M22! Will definitely consider staying here again!

Spacious home in ideal location.

Loved our stay and was surprised how spacious it was. Very clean and well kept. Lots of kitchen supplies and in the perfect location when visiting all the sites. I enjoyed a beautiful sunrise across the road by the water. I will definitely rent here again.

Amazing property, great location!

We had a wonderful time! The house was spotless, kitchen had everything to cook with. The back deck, front porch, and beach deck are all great spots to sit and visit together. Beds are comfortable and rooms are very spacious. M-22 is busy, but the view offsets and bother from traffic going by. Linens are towels were clean and soft. Perfectly located between Sutton’s Bay and Traverse City! Check-in and out were easy! Neighbors are friendly and considerate. Highly recommend this property and will definitely return.

Amazing Property

We were in the Traverse City area for a family wedding with my 94 year old mother in law. The house was conveniently located. Had a great view of the lake. Had a great relaxing stay. The house was well equipped and clean. Crossing the highway to go to the beach could be a little daunting as there was a fair amount of traffic. The little beach and deck were quite wonderful. The back yard was great as well.

Wonderful property!

Lovely property with hard to beat views of the west bay. Sits back off the road to a serene backyard and the furnishings were great. Even though we were there for a work matter, each time we returned to the home, very relaxing and homey - enjoyed our stay! Only wish is that it was a little less rain so we could have enjoyed the outdoors a little more but plenty of things to do indoors in the Traverse City area so its a win- win either way.

Traverse City Weekend Getaway

We came up for the spring beerfest. The house was in a great location 15 to 20 minutes from everything we needed. Beautiful view of the sunrise over the lake. It was comfortable for 3 couples with 3 bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen. The backyard fire pit area was very relaxing as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Clean, cute home

The house was clean and well kept. The lake access is across the road, as advertised, but the road is busier than I expected. No problem though. There's easy access to the city and the country. The house makes a good home base. I would recommend a new mattress in the master though. Other than that, very nice, would definitely recommend.

Wonderful Leelanau Home

The home was nicely updated, clean and welcoming. Excellent location for touring the peninsula or traveling into Traverse City. View of the water is very nice from the Living Room and the back yard area is private and quiet.

Great in the middle of all location

4 ladies wine & snowshoe weekend...plenty of space...very clean. Busy road but didn't bother us. We loved that it was in between as we had a snowshoe adventure in Sutton's Bay and one on Old Mission Peninsula so it was great for location. Love the big kitchen table as we sit and played games/cards at night with plenty of room.

Home away from home

Great weekend with family,. Great place to stay. House is beautiful, we really liked the local artwork through out the house. House made us feel right at home. We definitely will try to get this property the next time we stay in Traverse City.

Cozy, clean, great location

Well kept and well furnished property was perfect for our snow-shoe weekend with three adults and 2 teenagers. The bedrooms were very large and 2.5 bathrooms ensured everyone was able to do everything they needed in privacy. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed for an at-home meal if desired. Our time for the weekend was split between Sutton’s Bay and Traverse City. This home was the perfect location for us to get to both easily and quickly. The view from the front yard was cathartic- you know you are somewhere special and away from the stressors back home! We visited during some weather- my only suggestion would be that having some de-icer salt would have been helpful: the driveway was quite slick with so ice built up under the snow.
