The Space: Fiebing's offers guests a private "old school" rustic cabin experience, set on an unbelievable 240 acres, situated between two small private lakes, and just a mere 10 minutes from Downtown Traverse City. This property will take you back in time and is truly one of a kind. Just a short drive from the hustle and bustle, you'll find this private wilderness retreat! Enjoy endless hours of fun on your very own private beach, then come in and relax with all the comforts of home. Excellent swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Our one-mile trail around Twin Lake is great for families and perfect for guests who love mountain biking, hiking, trail running, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. No motorized boats or vehicles of any kind or horses allowed. Inside, the decor is vintage and offers guests the basic essentials. The home sleeps 4 guests between two nice-sized bedrooms. The primary bedroom features a queen-sized bed, dresser, and closet. The second bedroom has two twins, two dressers, and a closet. The living room has a pull-out couch and the large picture window lets in lots of light with amazing lake views. The kitchen has everything you need to make three square meals, plus additional serving wear for holidays, and a propane outdoor grill. The dining room seats five, plus there is additional seating on the three-season porch. Smart tv, books, games, and a DVD player are provided. Important to Know: \- Only the lower part of the vintage oven works. \- The wood-burning stove is ornamental only. \- No wifi, but great cell service for your hotspots. \- 1 rowboat is available for guest use. Boat is stored outside so it may have leaves and debris on them. \- No motorized boats or commercial boat rentals are allowed on either lake. \- No aquatic hitchhikers allowed! All kayaks, rafts, and sand toys must be rinsed off prior to use in the water. \- No live minnows for fishing bait. \- There is a marked, color-coded trail system that guests can use to help explore our vast acreage. \- There is no washer and dryer on site! \- We provide a very basic supply of towels and bedding. Guest are encouraged to bring their own supplies from home to make themselves as comfortable as possible. Rental Policy: \- No smoking of any kind or fireworks are permitted. \- No events, parties, or large gatherings are permitted. \- No hunting, no motorized boats, no off-road vehicles, no horses, no snowmobiles. \- One dog (1) is okay upon approval. No oversized or dangerous breeds. Pets are not permitted to be left alone for long periods of time. No pets on furniture. To help you relax and enjoy your stay, we have partnered with Safely to provide all reservations with damage protection. The cost for Safely is $55 for 1-29 nights, $299 for 30-59 nights, $389 for 60-89 nights, and $479 for 90-119 nights. All reservations will initially be charged a $55 Safely Damage Insurance Fee. For stays longer than 29 nights, the additional charges will be processed after booking. All reservations are subject to the guest agreement terms, conditions, and fees. Guest Access: This property features self-check-in. Check-in is permitted between 4:00 pm -10:00 pm. Guest are responsible for having their check-in instruction before arrival. Check-in instructions are sent after completing our guest check-in form and agreeing to our terms of service. The home's property address will also be sent separately 72 hours prior to check-in. The Neighborhood: Union Township Getting Around: Vehicle recommended. Other Things to Note: Guests are provided with a small amount of the basic essentials including 2 rolls of paper towels, 2 rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom, dish pods, a full dish soap dispenser, and full soap dispensers in each bathroom, and basic cleaning supplies. Guests are not to use the host's inventory of bulk supplies left at the property and should be prepared to supply their own as needed for longer stays. CHECK OUT INSTRUCTIONS: •November-April: Set the heat/thermostat to 55 degrees and close the blinds. •May-October: Shut off everything and close the blinds. •Strip beds (not mattress pads) and pile all sheets and towels on the floor. •If you used more than 2 shower towels, hand towels, or washcloths per person we ask that you wash, dry, and put the excess away before checking out. (If applicable.) •Dispose of all food. No food or beverages are to be left inside the property. •Put all trash in the garbage bin. Trash instructions are noted in your Guest Guide Link. Please take the trash to the road if your stay falls on or within 48 hours of trash day. •Put patio cushions back. (If applicable.) •All dishes must be washed, dried, and put away. It’s rustic and could use a little attention, but that fit with what we expected. The lakes and trails were better than we imagined. We made great memories on the rowboat, fishing, and relaxing by the water. A nice surprise was the two fire pits on site, which added to the experience. I suspect this property would be a 10/10 for most stays, and we got glimpses of that.Our stay didn’t go smoothly, though, but I give full credit to the property manager for staying responsive and doing their best to make things right. The AC was broken upon arrival — unfortunate, but the bigger issue was that it was a 20-year-old unit that had been service the year before. While we waited for a repair, we were surprised by the arrival of two unknown guests who turned out to be future renters stopping by unannounced. They wandered the property for half an hour, which definitely affected our sense of privacy.Day two brought the repairman and more waiting. A portable unit was promised, potentially that evening, but then didn’t arrive until day three. Every full day of our stay was interrupted, not allowing us to ever fully disconnect.The setting here is peaceful and private, but we never really got to settle in and experience it fully. I don’t think our experience will be typical for most, and again, I appreciate how the manager handled it. There’s a lot to love about this place — just hope it gets the care it deserves. ##### M B. Know going in it is an older cabin - nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Bring bug spray. We enjoyed a quick weekend with our dogs and children, they enjoyed the beach, rowboat and endless running around. The untouched nature this place offers is a rare gem. ##### Nicole K. Surrounded by woods and a fantastic view of the lake. We watched the beaver and the swans in the lake and the raccoon babies at the bird feeder. I really enjoyed the birds, especially the eastern phoebes that hunted for insects right outside the wide living room windows. As stated, there was no inernet but the cell signal was more than strong enough for a hot spot to participate in zoom calls. The grounds were wild, and although the sound from the road was audible, the overall feel was that I was far feom civilization.
