Dogs ok This delightful one bedroom, one bathroom cabin on the Boardman River accommodates up to four guests and is open all year round. This is a breathtaking location on the river, and its soothing sounds can be heard throughout the cabin. Step into a spacious great room with stunning views of the entire living area. The living room features a wood-burning fireplace and a smart TV. Above the living room, there's a small loft accessible by a ladder, which has a full bed (ideal for older kids or young adults). Additionally, there's a futon in the living area. Outside, relax on the expansive deck with a beautiful view of the river. Take advantage of the three kayaks provided and explore the river's twists and turns. For a warmer water experience, indulge in a soothing soak in the hot tub located on the deck. The hot tub was hot and ready; my dog and I had a wonderful long weekend, hiked the trails, enjoyed the snow, even made it to Sleeping Bear. Great location and just a short drive to trails, Traverse City, and all the surrounding areas. If you stay in winter, a 4 wheel drive is a must, the driveway access is not for the faint of heart. My Mazda had no problems tho! While staying there I broke the coffee pot karafe, and another was dropped off promptly. Had a lovely stay and a relaxing weekend. Just what I was looking for! The place was a totally peaceful winter scene ... yes the well water is a bit eggy but the provided filter in the fridge solved that. The only thing that we had trouble with when we arrived after sunset was finding the light switches, but it makes for a fun game to find what they are hidden behind (in the daylight). The Boardman river is only a few feet from the front porch, and the home is surrounded by majestic pines. In short, the property is exactly as represented in the pictures on the listing. My husband and I stayed two weeks (with our dogs) while our daughter was in camp in the area, and we found the property to be perfect for our needs. We had to work part of the time, and the peaceful setting contributed to our ability to focus. The internet was dependable and allowed us to conduct meetings and work online without a problem. The property was extremely clean. If we did have a question or concern, the property managers were exceptionally quick to help. As represented in the listing, the property does not have air conditioning - I would recommend renters bring a fan or two (two fans are provided) in the summer. Also, the entrance to the property is a little tricky to find - though once you do it is not a problem to locate again. The property is also off a sometimes busy road (the property is well back from the road, so traffic noise is not an issue), so you do need to be mindful of fast drivers when entering and exiting the property. We got to use the hot tub quite a bit as well as the kayaks. Reviewer Comments: We've enjoyed this wonderful property three times over the last four years and it is always a comfortable, relaxing, restorative break along the beautiful Boardman River. While secluded and quiet, the cottage has most modern amenities and is a quick drive into Traverse City. We always travel with our dog, so his being welcome is also a big plus.
