"We had an amazing 3 day stay at Art Mon Zen. From the moment we arrived to leaving, the staff were exceptional and extremely attentive. Probably the best hotel stay in Japan. Overall, the room was very comfortable and relaxing after a long day visiting all the sensational sights in Kyoto. "Our room was not ready for people upon checking in. Large, visible CLUMBS of dust through out the room and light fixtures. The tatami mats in room were messed up due to other inconsiderate travelers. There was visible damage on the ralls and "sofa". There were also visable "stains" on door inside the toliet room. The Breakfast buffet was always cold, even when it had been open for 30 mins. The food was subpar. The management was quick to remedy our situation, however I would not recommend staying here."

"A little bit of a walk from the train, but that just gives you more time to take in the sites. Overall, this hotel is great. Aesthetically, it’s top notch. We loved our room and have been talking about it long after our stay. The only knock I’ll give is that the staff felt annoyed when we asked questions. They were very helpful, but sometimes felt reluctant while answering questions or assisting us. That said, I wouldn’t let that deter you from staying here. Next time we’re in Kyoto (and hopefully soon!), we’ll gladly rebook here. "

"Our family loved staying here. It was in a lovely neighborhood, easily accessible by subway. Our own private onsen in the room was really great. The free sake tasting and soft serve ice cream was a nice touch. After a full day of walking, their massage chairs were welcoming. We also had a chance to enjoy an authentic Japanese dinner in their restaurant that had a peaceful view of their garden. This stay was one of the best things about visiting Kyoto."
