Simple guesthouse with fantastic food

Don't expect luxury - it's a basic Japanese guesthouse with shared bathrooms. Food was fantastic, trying the dinner a must! Shared bathrooms and toilets. Rooms essentially have paper walls... Hot spring baths ok, not more.

Fantastic place, I like it very much. The place is great for Japan culture experience, the only problem is communication in English. Overall ... Satisfied!

Experiencing Japan for a bit too much money

Good to experience traditional housing. Very far away from the city. Expensive for what it offers (room for 75€ outside of town, shared toilet and bath, no breakfast) Also, should write exact address because google maps turned us to another location in takayama.

Great ryokan with an excellent outdoor bath

Stayed here for one night. The room was really nice with authentic Japanese style. The outdoor bathroom was great with an excellent view over Takayama. Note that you can't eat at the restaurant unless you've booked full- or half-board with your room, and it's a 20 minute walk into Takayama.

一人旅だったので

一人旅だったので少しくらい古くてもと思い1泊しました。 とても小さいドレッサーとも言えないような鏡があり引き出しをあけたら乾燥したおそらくカメムシが。。 それ以外はエアコンとヒーターの両方設備でとても暖かったですし、 送迎の予約をしていなかったので歩いて駅に向かおうと歩いていたら車で追いかけて来てくださり送ってくださいました。 部屋自体は値段がとても安かったので、申し分なかったです。

Update Oyado Chogoro Location on Expedia Map

The hotel location on Expedia Map and Google Map is wrong. The hotel is actually 20 minutes taxi away from the train station, not within walking distance from the train station. We went to the location on the map which is a private house. We were lucky that a nice Japanese lady came to our rescue and called the host for us. He came and picked us up. There is no restaurants within walking distance from the hotel; the host was nice enough to drop us off for dinner. We had to spend extra taxi fare returning from dinner and to the train station the next day, $10USD each way. I booked the hotel because it seems to be close to the train station and neighboring shops and restaurants based on Expedia map. Expedia should update their map. It is misleading. The hotel and host are nice. It is a bit old, but clean with an indoor and outdoor onsen.

民宿主人很用心準備餐點, 一泊二食 兩餐都很充實, 民宿看得出來是百年農家了, 因此硬體設備老舊, 但乾淨. 有地爐的客廳非常美. 共用衛浴 - 乾淨 但儉樸 房間隔音 - 無 （晚上可能被其他住宿的客人交談聲音吵到) 語言 - 簡單英語OK

與飛驒之里距離20-30 分鐘, 與高山站相距30分鐘, 建議事先與房東約時間接送. 晚餐很精緻, 房間及客廳十分精緻, 很有特式

We spent 2 nights here and had a really nice stay. The house and the room are really clean and well furnished. There is an onsen in the bath. The food is delicious. The owners are really friendly. I recommend this place. The only thing is that the location is a bit far from the city center so it takes 30min walking to go there. But as the family has a car and are really friendly it is possible to have a ride !

Si parla solo giapponese,ma sono estremamente gentili. hanno un transfer a/r x la stazione. Il posto e' tipico e rilassante,e'in collina e in taxi bastano 10€. Bagni in comune abbastanza puliti,2onsen uomo/donna,aria condizionata. in agosto e'caldissimo ovunque,ma li si sta bene e alla sera e'addirittura fresco.
