Located directly behind Summerlands iconic "Big Yellow House" on Hardinge Avenue. The back gate can be accessed by Hardinge Avenue. Out of this gate is the easiest for walking to Summerland Beach. Convenient highway access and about a 10 minute drive to Santa Barbara. Quite a bit of highway noise but knew that going in and it became background noise to me and I used a white noise machine at night to sleep.There are lots of stairs but the host had warned me ahead of time. Appreciated the heads up when Truman warned me and made sure it would be okay for my older parents. Loved having a bathroom for each bedroom which gave privacy to each of us staying there. The hot water wasn't great in the upper bedroom on its own, and in the downstairs bathrooms (took a long time to warm up). Many places are lacking in amenities but this one provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion in all the bathrooms!We found the beds very comfortable with a variety of pillows for everyone's tastes. I also felt like the towels were soft and fresh without having issues like pilling or fuzz.The house was very clean. I did get an allergy flare up from previous pets (usually I only react to cats but I think this was a dog based on the dog toy we found), but that's always a risk at homes that allow pets.It would have been great to spend more time at the house with the beautiful fire pit and hot tub. ##### Bruce N. That said, the freeway noise is intense, so it makes it hard to sit outside on the deck and enjoy the sunshine and ocean views. We also had a few glitches like outlets not working, supplies is not available, appliances not all easily operable…the manager did help out and brought us some supplies, but I feel like the attention to details is lacking (which I expect details in a house in this price range to be over 100%).
