In front of every unit are beach chairs, an umbrella and a cooler to use. The decor is so quaint and authentic, you feel like you've stepped back to a simpler place in time. The firepit was all set to use, just a flick of the lighter that is provided. There is cornhole, hammocks and bikes.There was delicious apple pie upon arrival. The bed was so comfortable. There were so many thoughtful touches like a shaving kit, toiletries, coffee pods and fresh cream. I hope I didn't miss anything, but you'll have to go and see for yourself! We only stayed one night as a pit stop on our way to Boston. We can't wait to come back! ##### Dawn G. It started with comfortable and warm welcome with a note, warm apple pie, and the fireplace. We absolutely loved the the decorations, the true epitome of a traditional New England visit. Every accommodation was quality, from the bed to the towels. We even enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. Debbie (and Paul too) did a great as hosts ensuring we had everything we needed. This has instantly become our favorite place to stay in the Mystic area and without the congestion. Debbie and Paul have created a welcoming and comfortable environment for adults as well as young families. Set in a quiet little village, it is strategically located near the southeastern CT shore and a short distance from all the interesting activities that the Mystic area is known for. The room was incredible and the care put into every last detail certainly pays off. The Rigger's Retreat transported us into a patriotic and historic time with the decor and theme. We were greeted with a warm welcome card and apple pie. The outdoor social areas were also great and included fire pits, chairs, hammocks, and a gazebo. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and will try to stay here again when we visit Mystic next year. It was perfect in every way. There was nothing left unattended. The owners thought of everything possible to make the stay smooth, comfortable, welcoming, and safe. In fact, they went above and beyond with the extra little details and the positive/personal tone to all communications. The local was convenient to anything of interest in the area. The owners have clearly traveled and know the usual hassles, and they’ve gone out of their way to make sure guests experience none of them.Tired of places that give you one regular coffee and one decaf? Not here. We had a whole drawer of K-cups in all kinds of flavors.Hate sitting on a hotel towel at the beach? Not here. We had real beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and a cooler.Not enough outlets for your devices? Not here. Tons of plugs, both regular and USB.Hotels that skimp on towels? Not here. Plenty of bath, hand, face, and beach towels.Annoyed at logging into the Wi-Fi again and again? Not here. One quick login, fast speed, never had to reconnect.And that’s just the start. The room was lovely. The yard had a cornhole set, gazebo, and tree swing. We arrived to fresh apple pie and real cream in the fridge for our coffee.What’s missing? Maybe a pub within walking distance, but honestly, sitting in the gazebo with a bottle of wine was even better.Truly outstanding. We’d stay again in a heartbeat. ##### Rich R. The host was very good with communicating throughout the whole process from first inquiry to the very end. The place itself was comfortable and cozy and fitting for the area. Extras were provided like sparkling water, homemade pie, toothbrushes. If you didn’t have it, she did. We were greeted with desserts; that my three year old son enjoyed! There was complimentary coffee as well! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. Close by to aquarium and other attractions. Only con, it had a slight musty smell but i assume it's because of the antique furniture. Everything was very clean! Kcups provided and cream! The bed was so comfy!! We started our honeymoon here and were left with such a nice note from property owners. 9min drive from Mystic drawbridge area. We will absolutely recommend and stay here again.Only negative we had - The room next to or above us, when the shower was turned on was very loud right at the head of our bed. The only negative feedback would be that the upstairs was noisy with a lot of footsteps morning and night. Sounded like a kid running back and forth.
