The Hill is a long-established Italian-American neighborhood with family-owned delis, sandwich shops and bakeries on Marconi Avenue, and trattorias, pizzerias and upscale Italian eateries dotting the streets around Shaw and Wilson avenues. The “Italian Immigrants” statue stands outside St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and locals gather to play bocce at Milo’s Bocce Garden across the street and in neighborhood parks. Enjoy the food, wine, dolci, bocce and charming atmosphere from the convenience of your sweet perch overlooking the neighborhood’s newest project, the Piazza Imo complete with fountain, benches and chess tables. Lime bikes and electric scooters can be found but walking is the preferred mode of transportation here where everything you could want is literally at your doorstep in this safe and friendly community. They accommodated us with our planning issues in an understanding manor. The place was exceptionally clean and orderly, cozy, and very comfortable. The amenities were over and beyond taking care of every detail. We had a 12month walking toddler with us ,and we noticed a small dish with electrical socket protectors on the desk. The apartment is super comfortable and homey, with two real bedrooms, comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, and laundry in the kitchen. The parking lot was very easy and even the trash cans were in a well designed compartment. The neighborhood is so cute, with 3 cafes within 2 blocks, a gelato bar, deli and nice restaurants within 2-3 blocks. The doors were very secure and the locks straightforward to operate. We were easily able to climb the one flight of stairs to the apartment. ##### Frances W. We absolutely loved the location, close to everything and in the charming Hill neighborhood. The beds were comfortable. The decor was beautiful. The only caution for some might be the stairs up to the place but it was not big deal for us. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean. Washer and dryer was super convenient. The kitchen didn't get much use because of all the food options within easy walking distance but we sure enjoyed the Illy coffee!The area is bustling but not overly noisy. If there is a wedding or funeral St. Ambrose Cathedral area can get backed up as there are many narrow one way streets with parking on the sides so walking is the preferred way to get around during those times. We walked nearly everywhere except when we had to leave the area to see family. We had great conversations with shop owners and residents alike. We ate at at least 5 Italian restaurants and enjoyed each experience. Gian-Tony's is a personal favorite and he went above and beyond to give me a special treat I requested in advance. Gelato by the fountain is wonderful. Pizza da Gloria was great, Mamas was super good as was Charlie Gittos (fancier). We enjoyed the Antique Marketplace, DiGregorio's, Missouri Baking Company, Cafe Dolce, Volpi and many other places. ##### Kelly H. No matter which direction you walk when you exit the building there are great food options. The Piazza Imo view from the deck was absolutely beautiful day or night. The convenience factor alone is worth the stay. We just walked everywhere, no need to drive. We loved the friendly people and the feeling of being safe as we walked all over the Hill day and night.
