Première approche désagréable, même pas bonjour, aucun sourire. Des caméras qui surveillent entrée et cuisine, des cadenas aux sèche linge, lave linge, placards. Télé cadenassée, enfin la désagréable sensation d'être espionés. Assailli de messages consternant les usages et une maniaquerie qui frise le ridicule. I wanted to see if there was someplace to check my luggage. I was there at 7:00 and hotel check in was 4:00\. I tried calling but nobody answered the phone. No text back either. I decided to go in early to see what was going on. There was no TV over the keys. The sofa was old and the fabric was falling apart. The carpeted stairs looked dirty and very narrow when dragging luggage to the top floor. I decided to stay somewhere else. I only needed a room for one night. The room was clean and the bed comfy. A bit of noise from outside but nothing too bad. I did have some trouble locating the building in the dark as there is just a house number. I didn't notice anything saying Freemantle Lodge. Also the instructions for the room key indicated below the TV in the lounge but there was no TV. There is one shared bathroom, and two toilets. The location of the house was a short walk from the train station. The neighbourhood felt safe and clean. The house itself was well looked after and clean. Directions to find the house and get in were easy to follow. My room was spacious, airy and the bed was very comfortable. I found my room very clean, nicely appointed and comfortable. It has been a very long time since I have had to go out of my room for the loo or a shower but it’s not hard to get used to it again. My only issue is that having seen a laundry basket opposite my door I thought that I was supposed to strip the bed which I did and found stained pillows and badly torn duvet. Entry is via code on door and keys locked inside house If not for another guest helping me with key safe I could not get in. The same guest later on was locked out of her room with her key inside because the door stuck. She had to get a spare set from a coded lock outside the house. The downstairs toilet door stuck and I was locked in. Another guest Rajul was also locked into the same bathroom and the door was kicked open from outside to let her out. There are no coat hooks in the room or a clothes hook with hangers to hang your clothes. There was a Chinese female living at the back of the property. She could have helped with local issues but didn't. There is no free parking outside property. I could have saved the £70 charged and slept in my car and used local pub as a toilet facility. The address of the property is difficult to find. The carpet was very dirty. There is a half a bath upstairs with no shower or tub and only one shower downstairs to be used by all four rooms at this property. And you can hear everything that everyone in every other room is doing so if they are up at all hours of the night, so are you.
