All high-touch surfaces are disinfected between each reservation for your safety. \*\*\* Dawn on the Lake is a cheery, well-maintained home situated on a large waterfront lot on Poplar Creek off Lake Gaston. With four bedrooms and four full baths, it’s the ideal place for a family vacation, holiday gathering, tying the knot, or even a quiet, romantic weekend. No matter the season, Dawn on the Lake is the perfect place to social distance, relax and get away from it all. The house has three cozy levels nestled into the bank of the Poplar creek. The road or upper-level contains a five-space parking area connected to the house by a raised walkway. The upper-level entrance is equipped with a smart lock. Covered in bamboo flooring, the upper-level has two bedrooms that share a full bath: the Thunderbolt Room has a king-size bed and a double-size futon; and, the Bowtie Room has a queen-size bed. The laminated main or middle-level has an open floor plan with a living room, eat-in kitchen, entertainment area, and full bath. The kitchen is well-equipped with a flat-top stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig, coffee grinder, toaster, and refrigerator, and is stocked with plates, bowls, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware, pots, pans, and utensils. The dining table seats eight, and the kitchen has a breakfast bar with seven stools in the entertainment area. The living room and entertainment area are perfect gathering spots and serve as additional sleeping areas with a pull-out queen-size sofa bed. The living room opens up to a large screened-in deck with a ceiling fan where you can relax and enjoy the sunset over the lake. The unscreened portion of the deck has a gas grill and exterior steps which lead to the lake-level and lower parking. The lake-level has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The Moon Room with its stunning lake-view is furnished with a king-size bed and contains an ensuite full bath. The Seashell Room has a queen-size bed and a double-size futon. The lake-level has a separate full bath, and the gathering room between the bedrooms has a double-size futon. On the lake-level you will find a full-sized washer/dryer, a second refrigerator, and an exterior exit to another parking area with three additional parking spaces. Dawn on the Lake provides outdoor activities for the whole family. The lakeside front yard is grass-covered and perfect for play, swinging under the pergola, or a good night story next to the fire pit under the night sky filled with stars. The property has a private pier equipped with rubber bumpers from which you can safely fish, float, and swim. The water is relatively shallow, so jumping or diving from the dock is not permitted. If you have a boat, you can launch at the recreational area just minutes away and dock at the pier. The beautiful, wide creek is great for water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, or just cruising. A canoe and kayak are available for your use. Paddles are included, but be sure to bring your own life jackets. The house is child-friendly, but not child-proof. There are emergency exits on each level. Each level is equipped with a fire extinguisher: on the upper level, at the entrance to the house; on the middle level, in front of the refrigerator; and on the lower level, by the door. Board games are available for use, and the house has TVs and a DVD player. The house is climate controlled with heat and air conditioning on all three levels. Linens and towels are provided, but must be washed, dried, and returned to their original location upon departure. Check-in is 4:00 pm. Check-out is 10:00 am. Lots of beds/room. The access to the water was amazing. You had gas and a restaurant within minutes. The park with the water slide was a nice touch and kids loved it. Very convenient spot that didn't have a lot of boat traffic coming through it.Only complaint is during checkout, having every single bed sheet in the house cleaned and folded by 10am is DIFFICULT. We got it done, but it required everyone being up at 6am to get through all the loads of laundry. With three levels there are stairs so folks with mobility issues may have problems. The neighborhood and the whole lake gave off a safe, low key, uncrowded, family vibe. Everyone we met on the water or on land gave us a smile or wave. The house is close to the end of one of the creek arms off the main lake. There is a two-person canoe with paddles, a one-person kayak without a paddle and a two-person paddle boat that looks like it has not been used in a while. We rented a ponton boat from a local marina who dropped off and picked up from the house's bock. Caught catfish casting a bottom rig with sausage straight out from the house dock. Caught smaller fish using a very small hook, bobber, worm set- up in the morning and evening as small fish move into and out of the vegetation to the left of the dock. This house was very comfortable and it was very nice to hang out in the water and the lawn area. It was very hot the week we were there and so floating in the water was enjoyable. The house was as advertised and all worked well. The washing of the bed linens and towels prior to leaving with a 10:00am checkout was not ideal and I really wish there had been another option. The weather was hot and humid but the lake was a perfect temperature. The dock was very convenient for my boat even though the depth finder showed some areas that got pretty shallow (<3 feet). By the end of the week, I discovered what areas to avoid (forewarned about stumps). There is a semi-private boat ramp about 2 blocks away that is small but worked well to launch and retrieve my 17 foot bowrider. The creek where the house resides leads to Lake Gaston with about a 5 minute boat ride. If you wanted a break from the lake, there is a club house pool at the golf course entrance, that for a small fee, we enjoyed for a day. We didn't bring our clubs but the golf course looked nice. Some things to consider or suggestions: Bring your groceries. There are grocery stores but they are about 20 miles away. If you like to watch TV, there is only 1 on the 2nd floor. I know its vacation - but there are no TVs besides 1\. Thankfully we brought an iPad to catch up on the news before bed. Also the Wi-Fi doesn't extend to the dock. Meaning during the day, streaming music over a blue tooth speaker was tedious but we figured out a system through trial and error. Other than that, we will definitely be back. We enjoyed using the canoe, kayak, board games, cds and fire pit. The only complaint is having to wash the sheets and towels before departure.
