"Danu's homestay is the real experience. 5 star service with many smiles. If your looking for an authentic Sri Lankan homestay experience, this is it. Sigiriya is a beautiful little town and Lion Rock is a must do. Get up early to beat the crowds and heat. It opens at 7am. We hired a scooter but Charu the father will drive you if needed. The family are absolutely loving,kind and generous. Make sure you have dinner with them. One of the best meals I've had in Sri Lanka. Now for the suprise...

"This property is in the middle of nowhere so there it comes the magic. I can’t complain about slow and poor wifi or power issues since this isn’t a hotel but a home stay. The family hosting is among the best people you could ever meet, very attentive with guests and providing an excellent service and serving a tasty land grown food. We really enjoyed our time there, certainly a place to disconnect in the middle of the island "

"Great place to stay. Large spacious room and comfy large bed. Sana and his family are very welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast plus we were treated to a Sri Lankan breakfast too. Sana took us on a morning excursion where we were treated to all the local wildlife, which was such an unexpected surprise. Would highly recommend stating here. Thankyou all."

"We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are quiet, located in a lovely garden setting set back from the main road. Our hosts were very helpful, arranging transportation to the World Heritage Sites and a local dance presentation. Hosts will prepare breakfasts and dinners. The dinners we ate there were excellent. "Very good value. Very handy location for accessing the lions rock. The breakfast was excellent. Somewhat dated rooms , and there was an opening in window which I filled with toilet paper to stop mosquitoes. Otherwise ,no issues. Would definitely stay again. "

"Nice place to stay, staff are friendly although there're language barrier. They changed my room as requested because first room smelled little mold. Balcony is ok, but little dirty with bird poops. Overall it's not too bad for the price paid. It's not located in Sigirya town, 2km+ to lion rock."

"A touch of paradise! The host and his family gave us the warmest welcome in the world. The room was spacious and spotless. Despite being in the forest, there wasn’t a single ant or mosquito in the room. It had the most comfortable bed and pillows. We had a lovely balcony overlooking lush greenery. Breakfast was served on the balcony every morning at our preferred time, and was undoubtedly the best breakfast I’ve had in any hotel around the world. I had informed them in advance that I was coming to celebrate my birthday, so the entire family went all out to decorate the room, wished me happy birthday upon arrival and even baked a huge, delicious cake for me. This place will always be the most memorable stay of my life, and was better than any luxury Hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s basic and simple, and yet serene and ever so beautiful. "

"Melrose villas is tucked away off the main road but still within walking distance / short tuk tuk ride away from village. Rooms are simple and it may take a while to find right temperature for the shower. But what really stands out is their great service, simple but freshly made meals and view of Sigiriya Rock in the distance. "

"The chef was outstanding, Nalin had 28 years experience and presented us with meals of a high standard with great service. They were in the process of renovating but this did not deminish our experience. All the staff were friendly and the meals were inexpensive. We wish the new owner and staff great success as their attitude and attention to guest requests warrants reward."
