Arriving later at night, I truly appreciated the notes to drive slowly and watch out for the deer. The house is not missing anything! It’s a little off the beaten path in a charming neighborhood, so remember to pick up groceries, coffee milk, etc. We loved having the private patio area, nicely landscaped with greenery. Foam bed was super comfortable. AC was powerful! The rock Beach is a 10 minute walk .. lovely, but heads up.. a bit of an uphill hike on the return. The self entrance worked fine, and we never needed to contact the host. We were visiting relatives in Smithtown and Port Jeff, and preferred the privacy and extra room vs a hotel, so ok with driving. The area is gorgeous in summer… tons of nature and places to visit. It’s located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with big trees. The access to the private beach is wonderful and we spent several lovely hours there on two separate days, seeing almost nobody and enjoying swimming in the Long Island Sound. I had to change those plans after traversing the escarpment after the 5 minute walk to the gate to get you down to the beach. The walk down was not for me - aged 72 with one knee replacement, or my intended guests. So, I rented a car and drove the LI E with all my fellow Long Islanders and visited family at their homes.
