It's also just under two miles from the Museum of the Sierra and less than 20 miles from popular winter destinations like Balsam Meadows Sno-Park, Coyote Sno-Park, and China Peak Mountain Resort—ideal for a ski-cation during the colder months! On the lower level, you'll find a spacious, well-appointed kitchen with all the tools and appliances (including a double wall oven) to prepare anything from a quick coffee to a full meal. Enjoy your meals at the adjacent dining table, or step outside onto the large back deck to cook on the gas grill and dine with views of the surrounding evergreen forest. Inside, cozy up by the gas fireplace in the ground-floor living room, or head upstairs to the media room for streaming, DVDs, or a game of pool. For those feeling creative, there’s also a craft room stocked with supplies. The Space: Maximum occupancy is 10, with 6 adults and 4 children comfortably accommodated. Guest Access: Guests do not have access to the garage. Lower driveway not to be used during the winter-we don't need you getting stuck on the ice! The Neighborhood: The East Village of Shaver Lake is a charming and scenic area located near the lake, offering a more tranquil, rustic atmosphere compared to the main village. Nestled among towering pine trees, it provides a peaceful retreat with easy access to outdoor recreation and natural beauty. The village is home to cozy cabins and a few local businesses, including a bar, cafes, and seasonal restaurants. East Village is ideally situated for those seeking outdoor adventure, especially during the summer and winter months. In the warmer season, visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, and hiking, with Shaver Lake being a popular destination for water sports. The surrounding Sierra National Forest offers numerous trails for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. In winter, East Village becomes a peaceful gateway to nearby snow sports, with close access to the China Peak Mountain Resort for skiing and snowboarding. The area retains a more relaxed, residential vibe, making it a great choice for those looking to escape the more crowded areas while still being close to the lake and outdoor activities. It was spacious, very unique, and truly comfortable, making it easy to relax and feel at home.We also really appreciated how dog-friendly it was, especially the enclosed deck, which was perfect for our pup. My family and I rented this cabin for Fourth of July weekend and it was perfect for us! The location is great. Close enough to walk into town or down to the lake. The cabin itself is just as pictured and it's very clean. We spent majority of our time on the back deck overlooking the meadow. The deck could definitely be de-webbed and sprayed down as it was pretty dusty and covered in spider webs. That was really our only complaint! Overall, great place to stay.
