"Wears the Bears" is a spacious 4 bedroom 3.5 bath cabin spread across three levels that has some of the best mountain views to be found. Secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet that nature and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park have to offer, yet close to all the attractions of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Easily sleeps 12 guests in actual beds (9 beds) using the 2 bunk beds in the lower level game room. Outdoor seasonal pool access, deli, and a catch & release fishing pond is located less than 4 miles down the road from the cabin. Membership is included for your entire group for the duration of your stay. The pool, pond and deli are operated by a 3rd party. We are not affiliated with them and have no control over their days and times of operation. The pool’s opening day for 2025 is listed as May 24 and closing for the season on August 31\. The pool is typically open 10a-6pm daily. The pond is open year round. This is a new listing as of Christmas 2024\. It takes a while to build up the number of reviews across the rental platforms, but so far, our guests are loving their stays! Please check out review comments from our guests! This true log cabin sits on nearly 3 acres, is at the end of the road, and at the top of the mountain! This cabin is great for a large family or a group of families and friends to spend some quality time together in the mountains! Winter is a great time to visit and is much less crowded. You might even get lucky enough for a snow covered mountain view! Entry/Main Level with Bedroom #1: On the main level you will find the living area, kitchen, dining area, Bedroom #1, full bathroom #1, and the half bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a king bed and ensuite full bathroom #1\. The living area has a wall of windows to let in the views and natural light. The kitchen on this level and is stocked with everything you need to enjoy a great meal with family and friends. The dining table seats 8 and there are 4 more seats at the kitchen counter bar stools. This floor also has the half bath off the living area. The full wrap around deck on this level provides beautiful mountain views. There is a gas fire pit on the deck and a park style (charcoal) grill next to the parking area if outdoor cooking is your style. Lower Level with Bedroom #2 and Game Room with bunk beds: On the lower level is Bedroom #2 with a king bed, the game room with a pool table, foosball, and two twin bunk beds, and full bathroom #2\. On the deck outside of the lower level is where you'll find the hot tub and more perfect views of the Smoky Mountains. Upper Level with Bedrooms #3 and #4: On the upper level is Bedroom #3 with two full size beds, Bedroom #4 with a queen bed and a balcony deck off of the bedroom, and full bathroom #3 across the hall from the bedrooms. \-Please read the house rules before booking. \-This is a family owned cabin. Please treat it the same as your own home. We appreciate it! \-Do NOT feed the bears. \-The cabin does have neighbors, but is quite secluded. The surrounding area will be extremely dark after sunset. Arrive prior to sunset if you are uncomfortable driving in the dark. \-The road to the cabin is paved. It is steep and windy at times - That's the only way to get to the top of a mountain! Once you've made the drive once or twice, you'll be an expert. 4 wheel drive is recommended in icy or snowy conditions, but otherwise, any vehicle will get you to the cabin. \-Cell phone service can be spotty as you near the cabin. If you have your GPS on before the service is lost, your navigation will typically continue to provide directions. Once you arrive at the cabin, most cellular providers have service but you can also get on the cabin's WiFi. You may even want to print directions of have an old fashioned paper map as a backup! \-Bring your streaming passwords for use on any of the smart TVs. \-We usually are not able to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. \-The cabin is on well water. There is a filtration system installed and serviced regularly. We recommend bringing bottled water for drinking IF you'd prefer not to drink the well water. \-The hot tub is drained and cleaned after each guest. This means that it may take several hours to head up after a refill. Please allow for this time requirement on day of check in. The hot tub is only for adults. Do not use the hot tub if you have consumed alcohol or your doctor would tell you not to. Use the hot tub at your own risk. \-We have an outside security camera facing the driveway and steps to the entry for your security and the security of the cabin. \-We provide a starter pack for guests of coffee, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher pods, laundry pods, and trash can liners. You may need to buy more depending on the duration of your stay. If you'd like to use the outdoor grill, you will need to supply your own charcoal. \-Please note that critters and insects are common in the Great Smoky Mountains. We have our cabin on a monthly pest control program that is performed by a professional pest control company. Please keep in mind that the cabin is in the mountains and it would be impossible to prevent all pests from entering the cabin. By booking, you understand that there will be no refunds related to pests getting into the property. We will be happy to work with you to get our pest control back out to the cabin if necessary. \-Wildlife, including bears, inhabit the area. If you are lucky enough to see some of the wildlife, maintain a safe distance and do not feed the wildlife. Do not leave food in vehicles. Dispose of trash only in the outside cans in the bear proof trash container. This keeps you, our future guests, and these awesome creatures all safe. \-We stick to our cancellation policy. We advise that you purchase traveler's or trip insurance to protect your purchase in the event of poor weather, illness, or other factors outside of our control that would cause you to cancel after booking. There are no refunds for storms or power outages. \-The gas fireplace in the living room is operable October 1st through February 28th. We do have a gas firepit on the main level deck that is available year round. House rules: \-No parties \-No pets \-No smoking/vaping of any kind inside the cabin \-Fines will be imposed for any pets brought to the property or smoking/vaping in the cabin \-No other guests allowed at the cabin other than those on the reservation \-Occupancy limit is 12 guests; 4 of the beds are twin bunks. \-Secure the hot tub cover when it is not in use. \-This home is secluded, but there are neighbors that must be kept in consideration. We require our guests to be good neighbors and comply with HOA restrictions on noise so we can continue sharing this cabin with others. Our smart home technology will alert us if excessive decibel or occupancy levels are detected, allowing us to reach out to remind guests of occupancy requirements and quiet hours. This technology is privacy compliant, and only monitors the decibels (noise level) and NOT any personal conversation or information. Not complying with occupancy and noise requirements will result in being asked to leave the property. Everything was set up in a low maintenance, easy to use, guest friendly way. Everyone in our group (grandparents to teenagers) enjoyed the stay. All of the amenities we are used to at home in a more remote setting in the Smokies...like having your cake & eating it too! The hosts couldn't have been more helpful during our stay and we loved their restaurant suggestion so much we went there twice! The included photo is from the porch...amazing view! We saw a black bear, bobcat and kittens in a 3 day stay. If you are looking for a little more seclusion 30 or so min away from downtown Pigeon Forge while vacationing with internet, TVs, game room, hot tub, etc...look no further. This place had everything. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. Check-in and check-out were seamless.We traveled with young children (ages 3, 5, and 8), and would definitely recommend close supervision while outside, as bears are present in the area and the deck is perched steeply on the mountainside.The cabin offers stunning views and even more stunning visitors—curious bears who wandered right onto the deck! From the moment we arrived, we felt relaxed and right at home. The cabin was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the cozy touches that made it feel special. With view that honestly took our breath away. There was plenty of room for everyone. The host were great and were always in contact with us to make sure we always had anything we needed. Séjour de 9 nuits en juin 2025 ### 10/10 – Excellent #### Sara v. 8 juin 2025 Points forts : Propreté WOW, this place was AMAZING! The photos do not do it justice. The view was incredible. We sat on the porch overlooking the mountains every day even in the rain. Check in was a breeze, door code was programmed to just us- easy to remember that way. Group of 7 (2 families) had everything we needed. Plenty of bath towels, and the kitchen was stocked with all the appliances and tools needed. Before our trip I asked if there was an electric skillet or waffle maker to make breakfast for the kids. There wasn't at the time but the owners made sure they had both at the house before our vacation. The communication with the hosts was one of the best I've ever had while renting with VRBO. They were super quick to respond to any questions, concerns or issues. We had bears break into the bear proof trashcan and within a day the problem was fixed. Speaking of bears, we had 31 sightings in a week! We greatly enjoyed watching them, but be warned some of them were curious and would attempt to come up on the porch or check out the grill and cars. Just follow the rules, don't feed them and keep your distance. The house sat on top of a mountain (great views) and was away from noise and traffic. We were glad to have a vehicle that could handle the curvy and steep roads, which is expected being up in the mountains. If we find ourselves back in the GSM we would definitely consider this home again. We have already started sharing the details to our friends who are interested. Thank you. ##### Sara v. Wears the Bears was such an excellent place to stay for our family of four. We could easily have fit another 8-10 people in the cabin because of the plentiful bedroom setup. We're so glad we stayed in this location in Wears Valley, which is quieter and more authentic than the zoo over near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Plus there is a lesser-used and ultra-convenient entrance into the National Park only about 10-minutes from the house! The drive up to the house is hilly but 100% paved and it's worth it for the views you earn from the wraparound decks. The WiFi was speedy (I got some work done and we watched some Roku after spending days hiking in the park). And we encountered a family of black bears on TWO separate evenings! A mama and her three cubs strolled right past the cabin. Our family made memories at this cabin and it changed our perception of the Smokies. Thank you host Mike! ##### Nicholas M. With stunning mountain views from the two-tiered wrap-around patios to the completely updated and cozy rooms, this place has it all. The photos do not do this cabin justice. The location is perfect - secluded enough to enjoy quiet privacy, but also able to get to parks, restaurants and attractions with a quick drive. The cabin was well-stocked with essentials and perfectly clean upon our arrival. The tvs in every bedroom and updated game room with bunkbeds were a real plus. Our kids loved playing pool and foosball while watching movies. My wife and I relished quiet mornings, drinking coffee on the patios. And the hosts could not have been friendlier. Mike and Laura made sure we had everything we needed and communicated with us throughout the entire process. Check in and out were an absolute breeze. I only wish we didn’t have to leave!
