![Sedona has some of the best hiking and views you can find in all of the Southwest USA. But my favorite parts of Sedona are the little known secret places, that you can explore and experience without the crowds. This gem is one of those secret locations.

Sedona almost never gets snow, and when it does snow, it rarely sticks. So when a giant snow storm shut down the whole city last winter, we were dying to go out and get some epic snow pictures! 

Locals refer to this spot as the Birthing Cave. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy parts of the city. It is a fairly easy hike to get here, but getting up into the cave is a whole other story! It requires a lot of scrambling, and some serious guts! But boy is the effort worth it!

"I had high hopes for this place. The description said that we would be treated more than a number, as soon as we checked in, it felt rushed. There was an envelope with our name on it outside. A staff member I think came to show us where our room was again, felt rushed. In the description it said fresh fruit and snacks would be provided, there wasn’t any at all. There was a glass bottle of water, and some ice in the small fridge. Absolutely no snack, no fruit nothing. The breakfast menu gave us two choices a frittata or a breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. The scrambled breakfast looked fine, but the frittata was not a frittata nor was it as described, it said with micro greens, and olive oil had nothing like that. There was no crust on the frittata… it wasn’t good. Super disappointed. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. Best I’d say is it was quite. But don’t be fooled by the descriptions. There was missing a lot of stuff. And for the cost it should have been there. Would not go back. "

"We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. Having coffee in the morning by the pool while taking in the spectacular backdrop was very special. Having never been to Sedona before, it was challenging to choose what area to base our stay from. This felt like a perfect balance of being close to both town and within walking distance to great trails. No parking required for perfect morning and sunset hikes. The home was very well equipped, and the host was extremely responsive to all questions. It was all extremely appreciated, and we hope very much to visit again soon!"

"I didn’t actually get to stay here because my reservation was cancelled via message two days before I was supposed to arrive. It was handled very poorly in my opinion. VRBO is working with me to compensate for having to pay more for last minute accommodations, but I am appalled that this reservation wasn’t cancelled on the platform and it was made to look like I wasn’t left to find last minute accommodations. I understand the host is a management company and the owner was the one that cancelled, so I realize some of this was out of their control, but I still think it was handled very poorly. "
