A wonderful, genuine escape in the heart of historic Savannah where visitors can experience life as a local and enjoy everything Savannah has to offer. “The Clara” is situated in the historic Victorian District, just a leisurely 5-minute walk to Savannah’s renowned Forsyth Park the largest park in downtown Savannah. Take a delightful stroll from the front door of "The Clara" through the Spanish moss-draped trees to the cobblestones of River Street, exploring the beautiful Savannah Squares, charming shops, and eateries along the way! About the home: Step back in time by staying in a Strous Row, circa 1891, townhome. Named after one of Margaret Strous’ daughters who grew up next door more than a century ago, “The Clara” showcases Victorian architectural details inside and out, furnished with period antique pieces collected from all over Georgia. Upon entering “The Clara,” you'll find a spacious living area with comfortable seating, a 70” Roku smart TV, secretary desk, and reading nook. The formal dining room with an open floor plan to the living room features a 6-8 seat dining table, buffet, and numerous lounge chairs. An additional dining table in the adjacent breakfast room can accommodate up to six. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped with all necessary cooking and kitchenware. French doors lead to the classic back porch with wicker furniture overlooking the private courtyard. The home includes two full vintage bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, along with a large laundry/dressing room upstairs. The grand staircase leads to all 4 bedrooms upstairs (3 spacious bedrooms and a smaller 4th bedroom known as the ‘trunk room’.) Amenities: Two designated off-street parking spaces, private courtyard, exterior porches, free wifi, well-stocked kitchen, ample linens, washer/dryer, and local Savannah owners for assistance during your stay. House is historic and has some beautiful things about it but it’s old. If you like modern this isn’t the place for you. Living room was comfortable and the kitchen has all the necessary conveniences. The bathrooms are old! That might work for you. The beds were comfortable and pillows good which you can’t say for a lot of areas. The location was convenient. ##### Thomas F. Very charming Victorian. In "as is" condition. The house is over 100 years old, and you can tell for sure. It was immaculately clean, but in very fragile condition. Peeling paint on the ceilings, precariously sloping floors in upstairs bathroom, inability to lock most inside doors, not enough outlets to plug in all tech for 10 people. But, on the positive note we had fully stocked kitchen, walked to the waterfront, and pretended to be dainty Southern ladies walking down a gorgeous hundred year old staircase. Incredible house. Bring powerstrips and extention cords. Southern charm 12 out of 10!! ##### veronika m. M. The Clara was beautiful The beautiful Victorian home was a perfect setting for our bachlorette party! We stayed in the Clara for 3 nights. The beds were comfortable with lots of room in each bedroom. Carman and Jon had everything we needed supplied down to the sugar for our coffee. Several of us got up early one day and walked to river street which was a little over a mile. A very easy walk. When my sister arrived to Savannah she got a flat tire, Jon helped her change her tire, very nice man. We went to Tybee one day which was maybe a 20 minute drive. Lots of steps inside, beautiful but if you can't do steps not for you. There is 2 bathrooms one upstairs and 1 down. 10 towels and washcloths supplied. There is a nice washer and dryer upstairs. I would recommend this home for your stay in Savannah. We received excellent communication from Carmen. On the day we arrived, she texted us pictures of the property and a reminder of the code to gain access. After a long day of travel, we asked for dinner suggestions, and she provided several options. We ended up at the Crystal Beer Parlor, a prior speakeasy, and we loved the ambience and food. Carmen was also aware that we were traveling in celebration of my son's 18th birthday. As we entered the house, we found birthday balloons and a gift bag filled with chocolates and other goodies which was very thoughtful. The property was spacious with big bedrooms (television in each room) and a large dining room. The property is close to many shops and restaurants with a grocery store a few blocks away.
