Beautiful 1800s Carriage Home, Renovated w/ Modern Décor by Lucky Savannah

Built in 1875 on the lovely Jones Street, named “the prettiest street in America” by Southern Living Magazine, Sycamore Carriage House is tucked behind the giant Sycamore it gets it’s name from. With one bedroom and one full bath, this two-story carriage house is an ideal romantic getaway for two two Lucky guests.

The living area is an eclectic mix of modern and vintage décor, anchored by a large ornamental hearth and leather sofa. The kitchenette microwave, mini fridge with freezer, appliances, plates and cutlery. Follow the spiral staircase up to the bedroom, where you’ll find a comfortable queen-size bed and decorative fireplace. The ensuite bathroom has a tiled shower and pedestal sink. Watch the sunset from your private balcony before heading out to dinner at one of Savannah’s world-class restaurants.

In the morning, a leisurely stroll down the cobblestones of Jones Street will bring you Clary’s Cafe, the setting for several breakfast scenes in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. From there you’ll be just mere steps away from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, which underwent a major restoration to preserve their beautiful stained glass windows and architectural integrity.

If you do bring a pet to this dog-friendly home, you'll be in a great location to walk over to Mother Matilda Beasley, the only dog park in the Historic District, just a couple of blocks away.

This unit has free, on-street parking right outside the front door. Availability will depend on time of day and season. Our guests have not reported trouble parking near the home, even on the busiest of weekends.

The house was smaller than we felt was depicted in the photos and had no central heat, so we had to turn heaters on until the fuse blew. The very narrow spiral stairs are hard to navigate and have a very flimsy hand rail.As a unsettling punctuation mark to our stay, we heard what was either a raccoon or large-size critter scurrying around above us in what was either the attic or on the roof.

Loved it!

Absolutely loved this cute and cozy carriage house. It was the perfect balance of antique and modern. It is on the lane behind the main neighborhood road (which really is considered one of the most beautiful streets in the country). Locked gate entrance from the lane into cute (small and private) courtyards backed up together. Felt very comfortable coming and going and walking to and from River St. I would not walk around at night unless in a group or near a touristy area. Loved my trip and would definetly stay here again!!!

Cute place, could be better cleaned under couch and pull out couch

Found clothing, unopened food, and dead bugs under the couch when we went to use the pull out. The pull out was also a bit dirty. Overall awesome staff, TV wasn’t working but they came right out to help. And the place was very cute. Also there was no dishwasher

Beautiful 1800s Carriage Home Review

Overall the stay was great, the place was very cozy and we would stay here again, it was right in the middle of everything we wanted to do or see. I would like to say that the stairway to get to the bedroom was much narrower than anticipated and the railing was a little broken. Also, the fireplace area did leak a lot upstairs which then did leak through the floor into the downstairs during the heavy rainstorm that happened while we were there; it did not bother us, but should be looked at. The bed was very comfortable.

Pretty Good

Aside from not being able to find any trash bags and only being given 3 towels for two people staying 3 days, it was good. Very small place and have to go up and down the stairs a bunch, but overall a nice stay. The neighbors are all really kind and the location is pretty good too.

Hot nights in Savannah

Convenient location. Difficult to navigate steps to bedroom and bathroom. No coffee. No ice trays. Upstairs AC was worthless. Very uncomfortable, hot sleeping. Entry door ws tricky to open and worse to close.

If you like to sweat this is the place for you. The smallest AC to cool the whole place. We even asked someone to come look at it and they said there was nothing they could do since it was blowing cold air. Yes it was an inch away from you but it was not cooling the place down. Being 7 months pregnant we ended up buying an ac unit for upstairs and it clearly said it was 83 degrees inside when we plugged it in. They need to do better and have efficient AC for this home. Still payed for full stay. Do not recommend

Perfect little place!!

After a mix up in finding it, it was all good! There were just two of us and it was perfect. We were able to park and never have to move the car. Location was key, walkable to everything, and we’d definitely stay again!

Weekend Getaway

House and neighborhood were nice. Great location. Walking distance to most restaurants and bars. But we discovered the outside gate never locked. So we did not have to use the code to get into the property. And there was no place to store clothes. A dresser or 2 would have been nice to have. And in the info book in the unit, it told us to fill the dishwasher and start it when we left but there was no dishwasher. And they provided laundry detergent in the house but no washer and dryer. Over all the stay was fine. The spiral staircase was a little scary to navigate but we managed.

Great location!

This property is in a great location within walking distance to so many things. It’s a bit difficult to locate it at first arrival because it’s entered into at the rear but once you figure it out it’s fine. It’s beautiful inside however the stairs are scary and carrying suitcases up is daunting. There are no closets or bars to hang clothes. The TV needs two remotes to operate it and we had to buy batteries for them. One takes AA the other AAA. There’s a third remote (also without batteries) that we couldn’t figure out what what it was for. Beware: The bed in the foldout sofa is awful. I would not suggest renting here if you need two beds. It might be okay for kids but an adult will be miserable sleeping on it. The toilet is nearly impossible to use because it’s crammed into a tiny space. For a short stay this property is great. Anything more than a couple of days and you’ll be cursing the circular staircase.

Carriage House review

The overall stay was great, initially difficult to find the entrance but we got it after wandering around a little. A couple things to note: we couldn’t use the coffee maker the morning we tried since there were no filters, there is not a dishwasher as listed but two fridges, and the bathroom sink isn’t fully attached to the wall-could be a safety issue if someone hangs on it. Overall we had a fun time and our daughter absolutely loved the spiral staircase.

The house is definitely a little spooky which my boyfriend and I loved. We also loved how it had everything we needed. Even a wine bottle opener! We celebrated our anniversary here and could not ask for a better experience. The shops are within walking distance and it’s a quiet community. It’s also only 3 hours from Gainesville! Definitely coming back.

Labor Day Fun

It was smaller than the pics made it seem but now that I’ve gone a few times and stayed in different rentals, I see this is typical. Good location. Cute place. Scary spiral staircase 😂 Inconvenient dumping of the dehumidifier 1-2 times per day and AC doesn’t work the greatest but over all I enjoyed my stay. It has a lot of character. Much more than a generic hotel setting. I would stay again.
