However, I was compensated for this. The view is terrible, however the area is really good. It is quiet and peaceful. I don't feel it is worth the price they normally charge for it (around $70), but I got it at a discounted price of around $42 and then it is definitely good value. As other people have said, the check in process is a bit of a mission (as you have to go to a different place first), however at checking out if you call they will send somebody over to come and inspect and give you your deposit money back, which is really helpful. Other people have complained about this, but the wifi is still definitely a problem. It is slow and sometimes the signal is so weak, my devices didn't connect at all. The apartment is spacious with basic furnitures. The apartment seems to be at a residential building where there are some apartments are used for holiday renting. The location is at working distance from the walking districts (about 5 blocks away from the busy district). The tables and countertops are dusty and appliances are not as clean. Good thing is that the bed sheets felt clean. I saw quite a numbers of cockroaches from the bathroom, in the refrigerator and also in the kitchen. The check in process had to be done at Santiago Backpacker, a hostel owned by the same owner, which is about 3 blocks away where the receptionist at the apartment building do not speak English but they are kind. I booked the hotel at the last minute and I got dropped off at the apartment by the airport shuttle so there was a bit of a hassle and confusion when checking in. I arrived on Xmas morning but staffs are available from the hostel to assist and they were kind enough to give me a laundry detergent as no shop was opened on Xmas day. Aun cuando se sabe de antemano que el check in y check out se realizan en otro lugar, es un tanto incómodo que el check out obligue a volver al punto de inicio, una vez revisado el departamento, sólo para recuperar el depósito, cuando eso podría tener lugar tras la revisión. Considerando que nos hospedamos cinco personas (tres adultos y dos menores) no habían suficientes toallas para todos, ni servicio (cucharas, cuchillos, por ejemplo). Las sábanas del camarote no se mantenían en su lugar, ignoro si porque eran muy pequeñas para la cama, o porque los elásticos de las mismas no estaban en buen estado. Salvo esos puntos, insisto en la excelente ubicación del departamento, al igual que la seguridad del edificio, muy buena.
