I liked the proximity to restaurants and the Broadway. I didn’t like the bathroom door rubbing against the floor that made closing the door difficult for me and impossible for my wife. We thought it was going to break the laminate off the door. The office clerk said we should have switched rooms the night before. We would have if it wasn’t late and I wasn’t already too tired. He pacified my wife and said call Expedia. Expedia said call the hotel office.

This property did not live up to its advertisement. The pool was closed by the health department. This was not posted on Expedia, and was never mentioned in any of our communications from Expedia or the property. When I asked the front desk about this they just shrugged. The breakfast was minimal. The juice machine ran out of juices and they were not refilled, instead the sign would be turned around and water would come from any tab pushed. The parking was terrible. There are many construction trucks that consume the alley and make it difficult to park or remove your vehicle. I would suggest that people do not stay here. Also, there should be a notice to potential customers that the pool and breakfast are not as advertised.

The staff members did help a little when I told them the power went out in both room. Then it proceeded to go out again and no longer called again. Also, the towels had hair all over them & the toilet as well. It smelled like dirty rag was used to wipe down; and see wet streaks on floor. I paid $378 for one night and i probably wouldn’t stay there again.

It was nice to have the room cleaned and beds made the first night, but didn’t receive the same for the other three nights. We ate waffles, pastries, bananas, juice, and coffee. Last minute booking but we are so happy with the stay. Room was very clean, beds/pillows were comfy, and the actual grounds was very very quiet. We had people staying on both sides of us plus right above us and we never heard anything. Breakfast was just cereal, oatmeal, and packaged sweets but it was a monday they said there was more options on the weekend. Overall we will be back for our next stay.

Decent place to stay in iffy neighborhood

Clean spacious room, ok breakfast, friendly staff; hotel in a marginal neighborhood with homeless sleeping here and there, trash and even a used syringe by the hotel. Price is good for Santa Cruz, so still a good place if you won’t venture out at night. Water street grill about 3 blocks away has good food. Not far to the freeway or coastline.
